This isnt a bug and has been talked about a bit but I dont know the full reasons it acts this way, but unlike mail in rebate or idol or castle, ancient joker just picks a random suit instead of a random card, and then seeing what suit that card has

I think it's mostly for balancing purposes.
For example, Idol would be awful otherwise and to make it consistently good in a run requires immense deckfixing so that balances out.
Castle isn't that directly powerful in comparison as +chips is just a lot weaker than repeated xmult.
Ancient being this way feels right since it's really easy to deckfix suits and it has a powerful effect.

admittedly, having AJ being the only joker of its archetype being different can be a bit weird, but I don't think it's unwarranted

I can only assume it was mispelt from when it was created, but I have no idea when that actually would've been. I first noticed at the start of October that year
