Wanted to take a crack at modding for Balatro. Enjoy!
This is a modest vanilla-like content expansion aimed at building on Balatro's core mechanics and adding new strategic wrinkles without straying too far from the balance of the base game.

FEATURES

  • Lunar Cards! A new consumable type acting as an analogue to Planet Cards, allowing you to upgrade the base value of individual card ranks.
  • Reverse Tarot Cards! Rare & powerful twists on the original Tarot Cards, with stronger and more unwieldy effects. Upgrade your card enhancements too!
  • New Seals, Vouchers, Tags, and more to supplement both new consumable types.
  • 16 new Jokers!
  • 17 new Blinds!
  • Configurable! Prefer a different Reverse Tarot mod? Shop pool getting too diluted? Finding the Blinds disagreeable? Keep what you like and turn off what you don't—play your way in true modded fashion!

it is intended, but i have been strongly considering making it target a random joker rather than a selected one. i’d love to hear your thoughts

moon upgrades don't seem to be working for me? playing upgraded ranks doesn't seem to score the extra chips and mult from moon cards. i wonder if this is a mod conflict or smth, has anyone else reported this?

the code to calculate lunar bonuses during scoring is patched in so it’s probably fussier

wait, the chips are adding. if i look closely it's only the extra mult that's not added

also just for good measure: is it on any particular rank or is it across the board?

it seems to always add the right amount of chips but the ranks i've tried haven't added the extra mult. i'll try messing with my mod list a bit

i did previously have issues with it working on 10s and then fixing that caused issues with face cards so who knows! ima take a look tomorrow though cause if it’s something i can fix on my end then I should

thanks for the response. i'll have to keep up with this mod, i always like it when mods add something independent from jokers that encourange you to seek certain ranks since it has some emergent synergy potential. that's what i really liked about bettma spells

can I get your lovely dump file as well? there’s usually notifications in the console during startup if patches aren’t making it in

if I have one that’s lacking in my build that’s an uncommon it’s a great choice because I know it’ll hit the uncommon and turn it into something that’ll be better that I might be able to use

I think it would be better if it just maxed out at rare, since legendaries are supposed to be very hard to find

#

hence giving them that kind of mystical feel to them

#

having an alternative route to get to them besides the soul makes it feel a lot less magical to get one, especially one that’s fairly easy to get to

#

of course though, this is all just my own take, and what I think ultimately isn’t as important as your own vision for the mod!

when i was initially programming it i didn't want to have a caveat in how the effect worked bc it felt sloppy from a design standpoint, which is why i started considering having it target randomly

but u make a very good point, i would probably never take it if i was risking any more than a single joker essential to my current build

i think capping it at rare is the lesser of those two evils. It could just reroll a rare into another rare which would have much more viable use cases

even if a card is rare that doesn't mean it fits for what i'm doing with the build

so i could pick it up anyway and reroll it into a different joker

ignore that report i made yesterday, i'm noticing the same issue without the mod installed (flat mult added to playing cards isn't registering) so i know now that something else is causing it
