Whenever I start Balatro now, unless I start it while focused in another window (e.g. focused in discord) the whole screen starts flickering black every few seconds and I cannot get it to stop. The only solution I've found is to alt-f4 the game and open it again. This also happens if I alt-tab out of the game and click back in, or when I try to take a screenshot with windows + shift + s.
I am running a Windows 11 HP Laptop, I've tried running balatro in compatibility mode (windows 8 compat as well), and I am playing in borderless mode. Switching to fullscreen mode causes even more issues with this.
It used to be a rare issue and it would settle down after a few seconds, but its just gotten worse over time.
All my graphics drivers and software are up to date.
This might not even be a Balatro problem, since it happens with a couple other games (minecraft specifically) but in Minecraft I can fix it by pressing F11 twice to go out of fullscreen and back in again.

also important to note this causes my mouse cursor to flicker and lag behind as well
so I can't move it very easily
hence why I have to alt-f4

What's your monitor's refresh rate and set it to that.

all I see is general settings, not global settings
it seems to have been removed, from what googling says
I did manage to find the deprecated control center with an option to disable vsync
I tried it and it seems to work somewhat better but I thought that before and the issue returned after a few days

I checked my drivers were up to date several weeks ago when this issue started occuring, I just checked again and there's an update ready now
not sure it will help much but worth a try

the same issue happens to me on discord specifically when i play balatro or minecraft and i just put discord in another desktop thingy

I made it a bit more stable by changing my monitor to 60hz from 75hz refresh rate, but it's still not fully stable
