I'm playing the Rich Get Richer challenge deck against Verdant Leaf. I did not sell any Jokers, so cards still debuffed. I have $420, and pair is level 31 (scoring 460 x 32). I needed 100,000 chips to beat the boss, and with the limit on chips, I scored 91,560 in a single hand. But even though I didn't get enough chips to beat the blind in one hand, I still had that flame animation and sound effect when you score big. After some math, it's definitely the chip limiter causing this (not the debuffed cards from Verdant Leaf), but not sure if it the bug would happen without the Leaf or not. The flames went away after the hand like normal, and I didn't have time to grab a screenshot.

It seems that the chips, if not updated by any joker/card, will not visually update when scoring. In your case, you must have had no chip-scoring jokers so the base chips of a level 31 pair were used to determine the flames.
Determining that the hand would have won:
(460/420) x 91560 = 100280
Unfortunately, the chip calculation is still limited by your money, so the hand doesn't win. I was able to replicate it pretty easily in ante 1 and the behavior matches up. Let me know if there's something I'm missing/not understanding.
Pretty niche visual bug but interesting nonetheless. 🙃
You're correct that I didn't have any chip jokers. But the effect in your video isn't quite what I saw. You have the flames showing up before you select "play hand", but I saw the flames appear as the cards were being scored. The base chips & mult for level 31 pair wouldn't have been enough to beat the boss blind, but with all the mult from my jokers, it would've been if not for the chip limit.
Okay, I don't believe that there is a difference between having the flames show up immediately and having them eventually show up. The mechanic controlling them in both scenarios is the same, but I'll try to replicate the flames appearing as mult is added. Give me a minute...
That took way longer than expected. At first I tried to just hit a boss blind that debuffed a suit early on but I couldn't draw what I needed to. I ended up resetting for pillar and played all of whatever rank I could. As you can see, the fire triggers after zany joker brings the calculation to above 600 but the score comes out to zero since money is zero. Same behavior as expected.
