I was doing the luxury tax challenge run, no problem whatsoever the entire game, but around the middle i went head to head with the Ox boss, obviously no big deal, i had -20$ with around 15 hand size, played my high card, and got my money set to 0$, next thing i know, my hand size is significantly reduced even at -20$ and even much more on 0$, while I'm not 100% certain this is caused by the Ox i can't really figure out any other reason (i have not taken any ouija nor ecto)

Every 5$ gives you a handsize, so at -20$ you had gained 4 handsize, and then ox maybe you lose that 4 hand size

Isn’t the base hand size for luxury tax 10? The screenshots show a hand size of 6 and 7. If they really didn’t take echo or oujia and they are on the luxury tax challenge, shouldn’t the hand size be at 11 in the first screenshot and 12 for the second (as the hand size vouchers are obtained) ?
There might actually be some strange interaction here. It seems like they lost 5 hand size permanently.
