Jokers have some kind of trigger (Joker: triggers on scoring) and some kind of effect (Joker: +4 Mult). That's great. Makes them simple and easy to understand.
Some jokers have a degrading mechanic that also has a trigger (Ramen: triggers on discard) and an effect (Ramen: -x0.01 Mult). That's also not complicated.
So what if you could take them apart and put the pieces on other things?

Lemme pitch this idea and then you can feel free to tell me if it's possible and either give me tips on how to do it (I have basically no experience with Lua so I'd be learning as I go, but I'm willing to put in the work (between jobs) to make this exist) OR feel free to do it on your own and take credit for making it (especially if you make a modding API that lets other devs add compats to their mods).

Symbiote

Two minds, one body

A new Enhancement, a new Edition, New Jokers, new boss Blinds, a new Tarot card, and a new Shop area

  • Enhancement

Symbiotic: Uses the effects of multiple cards

  • Edition

Recombinant: (Cards cannot gain this edition) Uses a trigger/effect combination from multiple jokers

  • Jokers
  • Parasitic Joker: All Recombinant Jokers give x2 Mult, all Symbiotic Cards give +5 Mult
  • Incubator Joker: Unscored Cards gain a random Enhancement, untriggered Jokers have a 1 in 6 chance to give +1 Hand, +1 Discard, x2 Chips, x5 Mult, a random Tarot, or a random Planet
  • Rejection: Symbiotic Cards give +15 Mult and split back into their component parts when scored
  • Blinds
  • The Purist: All Recombinant Jokers are debuffed
  • The Separatist: All Symbiotic Cards are debuffed
  • The Neon Reservoir: Recombinant Jokers set Chips to 1 when they trigger
  • The Void Purge: Symbiotic Cards set Mult to 0 and are destroyed on scoring

Unity: Destroy two selected Cards in your hand, gain one Card that counts as both Cards and is Symbiotic

  • Example: Destroy CA + Bonus HK, gain Symbiotic Bonus CA/HK. Always scores 21 chips + 30 chips (bonus), counts as both Clubs and Hearts and either Ace or King
    Unity can overlap Editions, Enhancements, and Seals, but will only score seals and editions with the card they came with
  • Example: Destroy Poly Bonus D9 Red Seal + Foil Steel S6 Gold Seal, gain Symbiotic Poly Foil Steel D9 Red Seal/S6 Gold Seal. Always scores 15 chips +30 chips (Bonus), counts as both Diamonds and Spades, counts as either 9 or 6 when relevant (full house, pairs, of-a-kinds, straights), gives x1.5 Mult and retriggers once when scored as 9 (Poly Red Seal), gives $3 and +50 chips when scored as 6 (Foil Gold Seal)
    -# Yes I am aware this can lead to some INSANELY broken cards and/or decks when you grind for Death.

  • Shop
    Summoning Circle - $15 (After every Boss Blind)
    Choose two Jokers. Destroy both of them and select a trigger from one and an effect from the other to make into a Recombinant Joker (if the effect has a degrading mechanic, this mechanic keeps the same trigger)
  • Recombinant Jokers take the naming format [trigger] but [effect]. Example: Lustful Joker but Ramen - Cards with Heart Suit give x2 Mult when scored, lose x0.01 Mult per Discarded Card

Consider: Sock & Buskin but Hanging Chad
Trigger: Face Card
Effect: Retrigger 2 times
Retrigger every played face card 2 additional times

Add that to Photo, Chad, and Sock, and you get the first played face card triggering 6 times, giving x2 mult every time.
