Heya, I'm working on a mod to add Jokers that I'd thought up over the past couple of weeks, which totalled to currently 50. I started work on it yesterday and intend to hammer away at it as a side endeavor to my other coding project. I'll post my progress as I make stuff. For the thread image here's a Slay the Princess edit of the first Joker I made.

Thanks! Lots of brainstorming and some feedback went into my giant list of ideas. Most of them end up being incredibly strong in the right hands but they're all really more balanced around me. I think most of them are fun ideas and I'm happy with the pace of creation so far

I've been wanting to get into balatro modding and I just don't really know how to program them in, but what you are doing is awesome. They've been real fun to make, the first like 15 were all pretty different so I had to get quite a bit of help, but since then I've managed to basically get just about everything I needed from those first 15 and looking through source code and documentation. I wouldn't say it's particularly easy but you get the ball rolling after a while. I might post a public test beta once I reach 30, being the halfway point.

in my case, internally they are the same card, but when Blank Card becomes Negative it changes its description, name, and effect

it's meant to be the simplest of my planned decks, but consumable slots can be useful, and with this, you can get up to 4 with Crystal Ball (8 with specific Jokers)
Like it's mostly meant to just be another extra resource deck. I got two more decks planned that're more interesting, I like having 1 that's just a little bland so that there's an option for playing a new deck that isn't super crazy.
I see, so you don't start with the crystal ball voucher, the extra slot is entirely from that deck
Would be cool if you could try to do the same (In the same deck) with shop slots maybe? So its not entirely that simple

Talisman changes how money tracks and that breaks Mimic
in general just like avoid playing my mod with other big ones or QoL stuff
especially when Wave 2 drops
I've seen a lot of people frustrated with adding Talisman and other cross-mod support, but for me those aren't problems I'm planning on handling because this isn't a focal project for me.
Wave 1, the current release, is generally more compatible with things, but because of how much code is getting overwritten and modified with Wave 2 (Suit detection, Straight detection, buncha stuff) it's gonna become a lot less compatible with QoL and Content mods

with the mod having reached 120 Jokers, I'm calling it there.
No plans for any more content, just bug fixes if people find any, and fixing anything that might break with the Balatro update later in the year. When the vanilla update drops I may consider doing a mini update with new non-Joker content, but don't hold your breath

Tbh I bet the rewrites only really apply to s couple jokers, maybe if you're at all up for it, you could add a config that disables them and the related jokers? No worries at all if not and I can do testing regsrdless

yeah I think this is borked with my modpack
there was a weird memory overflow crash when hovering over a booster from another mod that went away when I deleted this
was this reported? Crashes with tax return, after paying out
The only details I can give is that this is the first joker I bought on the entire run, its the only Joker I own

Eh I preferred to not make my Legendaries just basic scaling Jokers, and I feel Ill Omen's hand reduction and scaling need (to not win, thus harder the more it scales) pull it down enough for Rare
damn, it's already 120 jokers? 😮 i still have version with 45 of them
I was rerolling the shop and it crashed, Re-entered and went for blind, now after entering the shop, crashes again
I disabled all jokers with the "banner" mod and it fixed it, I have no clue what joker was causing it, but it was too much work testing it with 120 jokers 💔
alright, it also crashes when entering the collection, ONLY while being on a run, it does not crash on the menu

Yes this is the several times reported "Mimic Talisman Crash", the only fix is to turn off Talisman. Talisman changes how money is tracked and that makes Mimic cause the game to crash.

chill, I though it was another type of crash. it wasnt with the same joker, since the other one I was able to buy it and though it was another story
I didnt disable it due to other mods using it.
So basically should I disable all jokers that compare money basically? (since I won't turn off talisman)
I think Mimic is the only one I made that directly does math with the money stat

I know 😅 I do not update mods too often (version I had was from february) and was positively shocked that there are already 120 of them. xD It's finally time to check them out.

I wouldn't know what though because I don't really play modded Balatro
I sold this joker and it didn't happen anymore, maybe it has some weird conflicts with other mods
probably something to do with another mod
I can quite literally pull up the code for Nazar

it does not and should not do anything else unless a different mod changes something about boss rerolls

Apparently the Balatro Mod Manager's auto-updater downpatched the version of my mod it was sending out so the version with the Trade-In crash not fixed yet has been the one being distributed for months. I've sent in a request for this to be fixed. If your mod version isn't V2.0.1, you have an outdated version and I'd recommend manually downloading the current patch.
Should be resolved now
