You may have seen my joker posts in #🎨・fan-art or some other social media.
I am streamer and a pixel artist featured in Balatro! (See in-game credits > imagery)
I started playing Balatro right before the full release in November of 2023, during a time where there was only a demo with very limited jokers. I was hooked from the start

This is my personal mod that I have been working on with the help of some programmers from the community (see below).
I still have so many joker ideas for the shows and creators, so I'll be adding expansions as I hit 15 more jokers. Hope you all enjoy the mod so far!

heyo! ok so i've dropped the dll from lovely into the local files folder, and also dumped the smodded stuff into the saves folder. Is that saves folder where I drop the mod files?

That's intended. Those are steamodded's lovely files, not lovely's logging directory

Yup! Mods go into the save directory at Balatro/mods, while lovely's version.dll goes in the local files where you installed the game/where the exe is

Yeah. Make sure you unzip the zips correctly so the folder isn't nested (you want mods/neato-jokers/common.lua and not mods/neato-jokers/neato-jokers/common.lua), though it should error and tell you if that accidentally happens for this mod

yeah those files should be in one folder! if you scroll up a bit you can see an example someone posted of their mods folder

just drag smods-main into mods and delete the blank steamodded folder

2. press Win + R and type "%AppData" and find a folder named Balatro

3. put the neato mod inside of a folder named "Mods"

Dayman feels too strong—I played three Gold Stake runs with it yesterday and didn’t struggle at all. Its scaling is too fast, even surpassing Yorick. Maybe reducing it to 0.4 would be a better balance (still powerful).

Fun story, dayman actually used to gain 0.75x at first. I got one run with that guy, he outscaled both yorick and hologram I had during the same run, and I immediately dropped him to 0.5x.

I am interested though, what kind of run did you have that you could outscale even Yorick? DNA to easily dupe queens?
Regardless, another small nerf might be needed, removing cards from your deck is indeed already good by itself.

appreciate all the feedback friends! gonna do some playing of the mod myself today n see what’s up

i wouldnt mind tweaking dayman especially if it feels too easy to win with early dayman

i will say i also try to include the perspective of a noob-ish balatro player, cuz for most people, in the base game, early throwback or early constellation can feel really OP and gets easy wins in white stake. also dayman’s rare dayman’s UNCOMMON so the chances of it appearing early are lowish (edit: maybe we can make it rare) but i think that’s also what adds to the flavor of vanilla, when you do get those cards early and feel like the run is guaranteed (only to lose to a boss blind or something lol) also good to think of them in the context of gold stakes too, although i assume most people playing modded

like right now, miku arguably breaks 9s. so that’s also something we’re kinda letting slide haha but i do agree with the points being brought up! for a scaling joker, dayman does seem like a lot but i think the idea was that since it was very specific (like sixth sense), it could cripple early runs if you arent scoring enough

though blue yourself might actually be balanced enough for ante 8 runs

Yeah, makes sense. I think both of them are kinda designed for Endless mode.

By the way, Blue Yourself can’t retrigger Burglar, Cartomancer, or Perkeo. Is this a bug or an intended game mechanic?

Blue yourself relies 99% on steamodded's implementation, so there might be some issues with it

three and nine are numbers associated with her because of how they are pronounced in japanese

seconded on miku feeling a little broken, 2 retriggers is massive, I hard pivot to 9s if I see it every time unless I'm super deep into a build

could argue s&b does the same thing for face cards and miku makes up for the lack of generalizability/flexibility with the extra trigger but the 2nd trigger is insane value in most decks

I don't think miku needs a nerf to rare though personally unless there's plans to add some additional effect. I think it's really nice that miku is a niche joker while being really strong; while she's arguably the strongest uncommon in vanilla IMO 9s don't have nearly the same amount of support as something like face cards, so the overall ecosystem is still somewhat balanced. Even if miku makes 9s more consistent than s&b for face I think it still more or less works out well.

So this issue was created because I tried to fix foil blueprints copying blue yourself.
One bug in the code, take it down, patch it around, a different bug in the code...

Anyway, should be fixed for the next release. Let me know if this fix broke something else this time >:D

In this run, Roffle gets a foil Blueprint and a foil Brainstorm, and uses both of them to copy Blue Yourself. However, because retriggering a foil Blue Yourself would lead to infinite loops, it doesn't happen, and Blue Yourself only goes off three times instead of five.

Would it be possible to have a flag on a joker that marks it as having been "blued" before, which is reset every hand, so that you could retrigger a foil Blueprint/Brainstorm that is pointing at Blue Yourself, without creating an infinite loop?

I think I’m fine with this functionality of blue yourself. Roffle managed naneinf with only 3 blue yourself triggers, and in all honesty might have been able to get it faster copying one of his foiled idols.

plus his economy is what got him that blue yourself in the first place if i remember correctly.

Yeah something went wrong in copy_table causing a recursive loop
I'm guessing one of the other mods messed with the function (Betmma's used to do this but you don't have that mod). Unfortunately I can't tell which one it is from the log. You could try removing mods 1 by 1 to figure out which one causes the issue

So this is what happened to that seed when the Talisman big num doesn't throw the seed

after this I got another invis and another Foil hatsune...

and the antimatter voucher

my 9's were all Poly RS wild 9 of Diamonds

my deck had 30 of them and a stone card with a purple seal

The 2nd Hatsune was from a showman and a wheel foiled it shortly thereafter

I think Blue didn't come until ante 18 and the 2nd Ecto negged it

This was my position before I got a folied Invis in the shop 2 rerolls after this screenshot

sold the Foiled Rough Diamonds for the WC charlie, then the WC Charile for the Invis. a round later invis became Blueprint 2

and I naneinf the round after. oh i got a fairly early Ribeye so my 9's were adding like 77 chips and 34 mult ontop of triggering Idol 36x

Blue Yourself is honestly way too weak because it barely works with any (modded) Joker that isn't as simple as giving Mult or chips. Weird because those same jokers will work with Blueprint/Brainstorm. Still a fantastic mod though of course, love the ideas & artwork especially

Just to be clear, this isn't a criticism for this mod, I have no doubt it's really quite difficult to try and account for every way a Joker might work so it's able to be properly retriggered by Blue Yourself

But to answer your question, in my latest run, UnStable's Quintuplets (creates a Negative tag when hand contains five of a kind) does not work even though it really seems like it should

Same with Paperbacks Basic Joker Energy (1 in 7 chance to create a copy of a used consumable).

Retrigger Jokers seem to always work, though, so that's pretty good

you’d have to ask @exotic gale about that since he is the main programmer but when i was learning to make mods, i used example mods from steammodded directly, and referenced the in game code as much as i could

Seriously though, he's alright. You might get a good planet to start out with (an early saturn gives a lot of points!). I've also seen people use him in combination with constellation, which works out pretty well. Worst case, he'll give you +$1 before interest calculation (assuming you have consumable slots open).

He's not a great joker for anything beyond ante 8, he shines best in early game

Funnily enough, I just had a good shepherd run thanks to another mod's joker that gives xmult for each base planet being leveled equally. So with blueprint giving me two planets a turn, then holding ones I already had too many levels in, it was a nice little engine.

Here's my troubles so far

Wild Card is another way of saying joker here so to avoid confusion i was thinking of calling WIld Card Charlie "Charlie il selvaggio" (Wild Charlie) but im not sure if that would be appropriate
Problem is, i cant use what Balatro calls wild cards in italian because they get called "Multi-Use Cards" which would mess with the theme.

I was thinking of calling Blue Yourself "Uomo blu" which translates to Blue man, it ends up following the motif of Uomo del dì/Uomo del giorno (Dayman) and Uomo della notte (Nightman), Alternatively i could call him Renditi blu (make yourself blue) but i feel that it would be a bit too distant from the original name

To translate, you need to copy the en-us localization file, rename to the german one (I think it's de?), and replacing the text between quotes with the translations, leaving the keys untouched.
Take a look at the other translations in NeatoJokers or the vanilla localization files for some examples.

Searched far and wide for the Dub of Arrested Development, unfortunately my labour brings no fruits because it just gets translated to "Mi sono venuto addosso" which is just a pretty direct way of saying what Tobias DIDNT mean when saying that sentence

i had never watched Arrested Development so i gave that clip a watch and this one is tough since world play is almost impossible to translate well (at least while keeping both meanings intact). Which is probably the reason for the weird translation in the italian dub. Out of the ones that you proposed i like renditi blu the most even if its not the perfect translation.

That's my only real complaint (they did a great job with everything else) and i can understand why that change would be made since it doesn't make too much sense but i did want to stick with the given theme

Some stuff that was in neatojokers got put into smods which broke some things (or duplicated the effect)
There was a specific context during which you used to be able to return anything to destroy a card, but after an smods update you had to specify "destroy the card"
There was a very weird edge case that I havent been able to reproduce where some modded objects would crash blue yourself joker because it assumed the modded object had certain properties, when that wasnt actually guaranteed
