I wanted to have ascending sorting since I didn't like the way my straights were always descending because idk, OCD I guess. So I searched for a mod that did this and I couldn't find any, but stumbled upon @muted trail 's post: https://discord.com/channels/1116389027176787968/1210424673293303880. So I decided to do it myself.

Initial release

  • Allows for swaping between ascending/descending order of sorting by pressing the same sort button
  • Config options to choose default sorting order and method (by Rank or Suit)
  • Options don't require a restart, but instead are applied immediately, even during a run

Requirements:

  • Lovely
  • Steamodded

Installation:

Extract the mod's zip file into your %appdata%\Balatro\Mods folder.

Compatibility:

Should work with any modded suit/rank.
I can confirm it works with UnStable's ranks and Bunco's suits.
Also works with Custom Suit Order

Imagine you can drag around sorting conditions like cards in hand. Suit to the left, rank next, and then editions, seals, and enhancement on the right.

Maybe arrange them vertically instead, like a tower or a list.

that's funny, i stepped away from Balatro soon after making that post, then returned literally this weekend. looked around, saw nobody made the mod, so I went and made a dirty little lovely patch for it myself haha

not really, just thinking maybe grouping by enhancements/editions would probably better work as toggles to work in tandem with sorting by suit/rank...?

Suggestion for grouping option:
Group red/black suits together for easier flushes with Smeared Joker. Could be either:

  • Ordered as 「balatroheartbalatrodiamondbalatroclubblatrospade」
  • Ordered 「🟥⬛」 with balatroheart and balatrodiamond treated as one suit and cards ascending/descending within that grouping.

As opposed to the base game's suit ordering which alternates red/black suits

New Update!

"Auto" Button

  • Toggles the automatic sorting of hand. ( As suggested by @willow fox )
  • If on, the vanilla behavior of automatically sorting the hand will be applied.
  • If off, cards drawn will be put in the right side of the hand, in the order they're drawn.

Color Coding

  • The Rank and Suit buttons are now color coded to show their next sort order. Ascending = Blue and Descending = Orange.
  • The Auto button is color coded to show the current state of autosort. On = Green and Off = Red.

Bugfixing

  • Fixed a bug that made the button of the opposite method to the default one sort the opposite order from expected on the first hand of the run.

It's working here. Maybe it's a mod conflict, or maybe it's the previous config that's interfering somehow.
