So I never had an issue playing Balatro on my PC before. Went home from college, played it on my laptop for the first time, and now that I come back, the game refuses to open on my PC. It still works on my laptop, but the game boots up to a white screen and crashes if I try anything on my PC. I think this is because it is reading some sort of invalid video settings because I hooked my laptop to a TV and played it off of that? I tried messing with the settings of the game through my laptop since I can open the game on there but no matter what my PC always crashes balatro now. Any ideas? I have tried deleting the balatro folder in appdata and restarting my pc, as well as reinstalling the game. No, I am not willing to part with my progress.
#Specific Game Crash Problem

your settings are stored separaretly than your profile and save data, so you should be able to just delete your settings file, validate your files on steam, and then try it
I'll give it a shot but I tried deleting the settings folder before I tried deleting the entire balatro folder
???
Upon attempting to open the game in order to get it to remake the balatro folder again so I could delete the settings folder
It just worked this time?
This is my like fourth time deleting the folder and usually when I tried to boot the game up it would recreate the folder and still crash
Well hopefully it just works from now on idk 😭
okay save data is gone uh oh?
in case anyone ever has this specific problem ill put what i did to solve it
deleting the settings file refused to work for me no matter what, it would always resurrect the file even if it was permanently deleted
so what I ended up doing was manually opening up the settings file in notepad and wiping it out by deleting everything in it, then when I booted the game rather than resurrecting the file again it started clean with generic default settings but with save data in tact
