A set of new challenges, to make players rethink what playing Balatro is. Mixing vanilla mechanics in all sorts of new ways, hopefully providing a fun challenge to every level of player.

Current status: In private playtesting. Mod will be released once content-complete, under an open-source license.
Looking for playtesters who have completed Gold Stake. Please message me!

On release, the mod will be localised into Italian and 日本語 (Japanese).
If you wish to help out translating, please message me.

Current challenge list (subject to change):

  • Drawing Shapes: Two Stencil Jokers... but you start on Ante 4, and have to get through Ante 9. Can you do it?
  • Escort Mission: Bring Jimbo through Ante 9! ...Or don't, but you may not like what happens then.
  • Violet Lion: A super-early Violet Vessel will push your scoring to the limit, and on Purple Stake scaling as well!
  • Eggs Benedict: Negative Rental Eternal Eggs, plus no interest, find a use for them or fall!
  • Down in Twelve: Limited hands! A fast-paced challenge where you have to think about every move very carefully.
  • Down in Nine: Extremely limited hands, but you start on Ante 0. Use every advantage to get ahead!

Current "B-side" challenges:

  • Grand Master: Extremely limited hands and discards. Only the best will come out ahead.
  • The Absolute: Grand Master but turned up a notch, the hardest challenge in the pack by far. Prepare your R keys!

I will consider the mod "content-complete" once we have 20 A-side challenges, B-sides are fully implemented, and every challenge has been manually balanced and playtested to be entertaining and fun to play.
