Mod Index Index: I told you I'd do it!

People have tried making mod indices on various occasions. This is a list of every such attempt that I could find. That is all.

The list has now been moved to GitHub. Easier to maintain that way. Feel free to put in a PR and/or comment somewhere if you have more indices to add.

GitHub

Index of Balatro mod indices. Contribute to balala-modding-zone/mod-index-index development by creating an account on GitHub.

I think there's more but I gotta go to food rn so I'll look later
and/or if you have one bookmarked that isn't here send it and I'll add it

isn't this a lil too much

Eh, there's enough of them that I thought surely someone would benefit from keeping track

How did we get to a point that we now have an index for mod indexes

I realize there’s an issue with antivirus triggering and that may be in the past why Balatro hasn’t been added to R2 Mod manager or the like…but it’d make a world of difference if there was an easier way to mod the game, browse available mods (other than referring to multiple indexes) and one click install/enable, and update mods automatically. I have to check each GitHub page for all installed mods whenever I wanna see if it’s been updated :/

…Balatro was added to r2modman though

#

In fact lovely is even on there

#

It’s just that nobody really uploaded their mods so it got forgotten.

I prefer thunderstore as well, but Im working on a seperate solution as fast as I can
(a manager that works with how things are now)

I may commit bridge jump if someone else makes one

that's why i'm not indexing mods themselves, just the indices :p

i feel like this is only a thing that will be around until the game gets a workshop

Yeah no Balatro is probably not gonna get native workshop support

Add me to the supporters of Steam Workshop. The streamlining of mods is quite beneficial versus manual, as you have to rely on each player to update the mods on time.

boreal smelt
#

the problem with that is that we need to find a way to mod that doesn't involve code injection
because code injection can be used for nefarious purposes, steam will never allow lovely or steamodded on the workshop

well, it would never allow lua modding at all then cuz it doesn't matter, overriding any function can be just as bad, which is trivial in lua

you could probabyl get away with a lot of stuff with overriding the global context for mods

#

but it would also limit mods like crazy

maintaining this on discord is becoming unwieldy
i might move it to github at some point
