it shouldn't be due to the Boss reroll tag/voucher since there are highscore runs that rely on rerolling to get serpent. The only thing I can immediately think of is your deck being so small as to make it so you had no cards to draw.

wait, are you saying that it never drew cards to begin with? you entered the blind and instantly lost, or it just wouldn't draw when you played/discarded
