Plague Doctor - Uncommon, Rots all consumable cards in possession at end of shop
Dark Sun - Uncommon, 1 in 7 cards are drawn face down. Face down cards give +20 mult when played
Lightless Flame - Common, When blind is selected, consumables in possession are destroyed. Gains +2 Mult for each card destroyed.
Last Laugh - Uncommon, X10 Mult if there are no more cards in the deck
Rotten Consumables: (also could be rebalanced
The Rot (Tarot) - (not sure yet actually sdjhsjdh)
Colony (Planet) - Upgrades most played hand by 1 level
Decay (Spectral) - Creates a perishable negative copy of a random joker
rotten consumables do not spawn naturally
the examples here are honestly balanced enough where they could spawn naturally tbh. How would you actually get them though?

the downside really is just,, you're not gonna get the joker unless you're playing with only a few mods. it's an interesting thing to try to balance around, or just say it's a mostly standalone mod

[WIP/CONCEPTING] The Dread Jokers - TMA Inspired Joker Mod
currently about two thirds into the amount of jokers to code!!!
and also like half of the way for the art needed to be done jsdhsdkfjh
going through the list again since i made a few changes since last time
in order:
Dig. Uncommon - Gains x0.2 mult for every spade card scored this round
Plague Doctor. Uncommon - Rots all consumables in possession upon leaving store
Dark Sun. Uncommon - 1 in 7 cards are drawn face down. Face down cards give +20 mult.
Lightless Flame. Common - Consumables in possession are destroyed upon entering blind, gains +3 mult for each destroyed
Last Laugh. Uncommon - x20 mult if there are no more cards in deck
Panopticon. Rare - +30 chips per unique Spectral used this run
Boneturner. Rare - Jacks, Queens, and Kings can be used interchangeably (completing hands, joker effects, etc.)
Lonely Joker. Common - +2 Mult if played hand is a high card
Distortion. Common - Cards give a random amount of chips
Fallen Titan. Uncommon - Stone cards give +30 chips when held in hand.
im content enough with this amount of jokers to give it a minor release, so,, later ill send the github page for the mod!!!

Extinction's description should now be fixed, Lonely should be working as intended, and the "Rot" tarot's effects have been changed to:
"Creates a random negative tarot card"

so far have 7 cards coded and 4 of them drawn
from left to right, we have:
Coffin - 20 dollars when bought, destroys a random joker when sold
Syringe - Sell this card to reduce hands to 1 and reduce blind requirement by 80%
Shadow Puppet - Creates a negative copy of the first Tarot card used each round
Wildfire - 1 in 8 Wild cards convert adjacent cards after scoring
Gunslinger - [Poker Hand] counts as a Dead Man's Hand. Self Destructs (Dead Man's Hand - 1837 x 1876, can also be two black aces and eights)
Mechanical Joker - Retriggers adjacent common Jokers
Archivist - When consumable is used, gains chips equals to four times the card's sell value
thinking of changing coffin to be like
destroys an adjacent joker when sold (prioritizes right over left)
though i suppose the concept itself is flawed

its pretty simple actually-
just install cheesyjokers and dreadjokers at the same time
and,, when a statement card is activated, some of them have no effect
mostly the ones that have their effects via calculate code
the one i usually use for testing is nightfall and parity
what happens with cheesyjokers vs intended behavior
apparently it helps a lot if I remember to actually turn on the statement card

Hi! I think your Joker ideas are really excellent, and I especially like the Tape consumable idea. I was wondering if there happened to be a release for this mod that worked with older versions of Talisman rather than Talisman 2.0.0, for whatever reason, I can get Talisman to run on an earlier release but obviously the Dread Jokers pack won't as currently released. Been trying to get Talisman to run without immediately crashing my game for hours and wanted to try the problem from the other side lol

i found that loading dead jokers later (like making it LunasDreadJokers) allowed it to load
@hallow rivet I believe I found a bug. This mod being enabled prevents joker effects, such as Sixth Sense, from destroying cards, and I believe the reason is in lines 299 and 528 of lovely.toml, which can overwrite "destroyed" to be false when it was previously set to true.

I noticed that statement cards cause a crash with cryptid by simply being in the consumeable slot, not even being used
btw, my mod uses the same lovely patches that conflicted with grim, but someone gave me a little fix

heres more context for the cryptid crash
confirmed to also cause a crash when in use
funnily enough this seems to prevent the mr spider joker from destroying cards, but it still reduces your max deck size (for example, i have 55/45 cards in my deck in my current run), leaving blank spots in your hand that i assume the game is trying to fill with those extra cards
mr spider still scales like normal, just doesnt destroy the cards

I kept getting the same error because of The Dread Jokers, but even without Cryptid. It might be a coincidence, but I think it always happened when I played Flush while having at least one joker and something in the consumable slot — and selling either the joker or the consumable item allowed to play the hand without crashing. Really hope it gets patched, cause this mod is awesome.

@hallow rivet Hi! I'm really enjoying this mod, especially the idea of the Statements/tape consumables. They're a really neat idea that I don't think I've seen anyone else try! Only gripe I have at the minute is that I don't know if this is because I have other mods installed, but for some reason some of the tapes refuse to work (Like Mystery not giving me tarot cards when discarding)

Also Mechanical Joker's ability doesn't seem to work last time I checked?
The retrigger statements (both Research and Compulsion) not working and statements not being removed at the end of blinds is happening to me as well. I'm going to try turning off Bunco but maybe it's a steamodded or talisman problem and it doesnt work with newer versions?
ok i turned off Bunco and now Statements are working and being removed properly, it's most likely Bunco's fault
also running into a crash when trying to use Indulgence (both with and without Bunco), seems to do with Talisman
And — last one, I promise lol — Divinity scales at X2 per round instead of X1, though this might be on me since looking at the code it should be working properly

But yeah, that’s probably the reason why. Might be reason enough need to look into it, see what’s causing the tapes to not work
I'm guessing Bunco rewrites a bit of the game logic for it to work (my bet is on Copper cards)

Good to hear! I see this mod having a lot of potential, especially since mods like Cardsleeves and Bunco have compatability soooooooo who knows? Next tape could turn light suits into Fleurons and dark suits into Halberds, idk :P
I've been playing around with Bunco's code for a while and I'm pretty sure that one of the patches in its lovely.toml file somehow overwrites a Consumable's ability to have a calculate function
Because when Bunco is enabled Statements just. never go into their calculate function at all
Weird... Maybe forward it to them Luna?
Yeeeah... Maybe add a conflict for Bunco for now and create an Issue in Bunco's repo about this, they probably know whats going on lol

did you fix the bug that causes like. cards destroyed by jokers to not be actually removed from your deck, making blank spots in your hand
iirc mister spider was the one that was doing it when i played last time
so like. it would remove the cards from your deck but it wouldn’t reduce your deck size, so you would still draw the cards but since they were destroyed you couldn’t select them to play or discard and they were just blank spots in your hand
the terraria jokers mod has the same issue
