Hmm - your initial screenshot says 'This phone isn't compatible' and this one says 'This app isn't available'. This second screenshot comes up for other reasons than the device.
Can I check what location you are in and if you have verified your age on your Google Account?

UK and I don't believe I've verified my age

also yeah it's inexplicably changed the error message for whatever reason

Okay if you can verify your age, that could be causing it: you need to be 18+ and for some users if they hadn't verified that they're over 18 it wouldn't allow them to get the app
