Yes! I have the exact same issue on iPhone. Always handy+garbage tag in ante 1. Unseeded, seeded (and no matter the seed) - it's always the same.

There's another post about this issue, from March this year, about the Steam version, where the solution was "removing the settings.jkr file in my appdata, and running the game WITHOUT letting steam cloud sync" -- but of course totally starting over doesn't seem to be possible on iOS.

I've tried deleting the game (through Settings -> General -> iPhone Storage -> Balatro -> Delete app) and reinstalling, and deleting and rebooting the phone and reinstalling. Nothing works.

I’ve had this issue SPECIFICALLY on the Mac Apple Arcade version of the game - ante 1 tags are always different on my phone (which is also running Apple Arcade!)

I have 2 Androids one has the issue and one doesn't. I reinstalled it on the buggy one but the bug came back.

Please also try deleting the Balatro entry on your iCloud storage accessed through iPhone’s Settings app too when the app has been uninstalled and prior to reinstalling for a fresh start. 🙂

I have the same issue on Android, two devices. Phone works as it should, tablet just have handy and garbage tag. I read somewhere that in the tutorial the first ante is force coded (?) with handy and garbage tags. I completed the tutorial on my phone and it works there but maybe the "code" is still stuck on other devices somehow? Just my thought, not a programmer tho

Ahhh thank you! I'd completely missed that. Can confirm that uninstalling, removing iCloud storage for Balatro and then reinstalling fixes the issue for me (I also went through all the tutorial steps this time). (This of course deletes all progress so hopefully it can be fixed some other way with a patch)

As written on the article, yes it will delete all save and progress for the game you select. Like how it also did for iOS users who deleted iCloud save to fix the bug on their device/s.

At this moment it’s the only workaround for the issue while waiting for an official fix to be released.
