Do you have an AMD processor?
there's been reports of this before, I think thunk said something at one point about needing to manually update drivers
someone also mentioned there being a wrapper for OpenGL that you can use instead if your machine can handle it: https://www.mesa3d.org/

I'm having the same issue, and i have no AMD CPU just a GPU
if you have an AMD GPU and role back to the last AMD driver
I heard that worked for some people but not sure, my brother has the same GPU as me and doesn't have the issue with the same driver

a really dumb fix for this
that works for me
go in to AMD software go to balatro
and turn on Antialiasing

ok i did try this, ive ben lazy and havent really been trying to play the game lately, but this did KINDA help! instead of the game just straight up crashing, it opens but i cant see the game, like its there in my taskbar but i cant open it.
I havent tried OpenGL or reverting my graphics card yet, cause im lazy but this was something new and easy and thank you!

@silent radish I actually get this exact same problem with 2 other games i can't play Devil Dagger and Hyper Demon
they both get the same error is balatro
and for both of those games the fix opens up the game but no window just taskbar icons
