This mod aims to add Jokers and cards themed around the Touhou Project! If you don't know what the touhou project is you should probably be looking elsewhere. As of now the mod is in alpha and adds one common, one uncommon, and one rare, but that is due to change with time. The plan as of now is to create jokers based on the bosses of the games in incremental order although that may be set to change

oh, I had a very similar thing brewing on my PC, but I never really got around to any of it, I suppose I'll post what I had planned and if they wish to be added, I'm fine with it (you had plans for hakkero and "dream seal"/yin-yang which is also fair)
I'll see about posting it to the github too, but this should be a well of ideas to start with, and I'll see if I can think of anything else

for consumables, well there's kind of always a problem with balatro consumables in mods imo
its weird to add more tarot cards when the 22 major arcana are already covered, and adding a lot more spectral cards ends up being sort of messy since spectral packs are so rare
so the only option is more booster packs and but idk if having a new tab in the collection menu requires ui changes or what not
consumables were a bit scatterbrained, wouldn't really need to be implemented
i do want them though, spell card related consumables could be interesting
in that case, I think originally I would've had a deck with the power-up voucher to start with, and as for where the consumables can show up...
yep yep, in any case there's a lot here that i like and think would be good
didn't get that far other than "hey these can just show up in the shop at some point" or well the P and point items would anyways
the bomb items as the voucher says is intended to be given when you defeat the boss blind
kind of like when you take out bosses/spell cards sometimes in the games, sometimes those gives 1-Ups but I'm not really sure if there's an elegant 1-Up item that could be given that's not just...revive
yeah that's standard for arcade shmups
that'd probably be the closest thing, but it'd probably have to be similar to the bomb item honestly where it'd guarantee the card's destroyed when played
because just having that as something you can always slap onto every hand is very strong
don't worry about all the gimmick drop items like cherry blossoms or animal spirits I'm sure they can be implemented cleanly
I do like a lot of these ideas, I think they work really well! I'll probably workshop a few of them in eventually
maybe the prismriver one because i barely thought of anything for them
the ones I struggled with the most were the PC98 ones and honestly I think I could've done Junko's better
zanmu also was kinda written in, but not enough time/people giving a care about her so there's barely anything done with her yet

the current idea for cirno is that it'll be a scaling chips joker, but for patchouli and meiling im kind of unsure what i want to do
maybe patchouli can be like the reimu one? and can add the purple seal to a card

We already have ofuda as a new card enhancement, but there'll probably be more. editions and seals are unsure

chose the romaji instead of the actual card "Sky Dragon Kick" as part of Meiling's style in the games

a moon planet card that adds 10 chips to all poker hands
well seeing as jen's collection allows for editions on planet cards (e.g. foil giving an additional +50 chips on top of its original boost), that should be very possible

Since multiple mods have had CardSleeves I’ve thought of 2 so far that could easily be expanded or reworked into a different sleeve etc but thought I’d share the ideas atm
Baka Sleeve- All 9 cards have a increased chip amount (you also start with 9 joker slots and cards have a 9% higher chance of being negative. In short if there’s a value it’s increased or decreased by 9 specifically but this entire sleeve could be rebalanced accordingly]
Marisa Sleeve-“borrow” (gain) a hand every boss bind defeated [this one could probably be reworked into something more fitting]
ngl i was expecting cirno jokers to have +chip values in base 9 values

Kirisame Deck: Start with Overstock Voucher (Overstock+ when combined with sleeve), after defeating each boss blind, gain a coupon tag.

Shaved Ice Deck: Your deck starts out with no 9 cards. 9s in card packs or the shop are guaranteed to be Polychrome (start with a negative eternal Cloud 9 Joker when combined with sleeve).
I would like to take the 9 ball idea in a different direction for a centralized deck

i do want there to be touhou-specific decks but im not entirely sure how theyd work. once we get further into the mod we can see the balancing thatd work there

this marisa deck idea is similar to an idea i had for a yukari joker

btw just to note theres going to be basically no ways of turning a joker negative. ectoplasm is fine enough as is, dont like going too overboard

yeah balatro mods end up having almost inevitable powercreep to them, i want to try and lessen that as much as possible but i know that if im more or less doubling the joker count im not going to be totally successful
Tbh every Balatro mod sorta has a line between cryptid level insane,or vanilla styled fun
Probably more layers to the halfs of the spectrum but I love the vanilla style of the available cards etc
the thing is that you cant just make more stakes to balance out the increasing joker amount
since its not guaranteed you get those good, powerful jokers
so dont worry no ascendant stake in this mod

depending on how much of touhou project we leave in, it'll probably go beyond double the base game's joker count, considering hifuu, pc98, the recent detective satori, etc
at the very least I definitely would love to see hifuu represented, and I think that's...after IN? so in all honestly it'd be pretty close relatively to a majority of the series
also at some point I came up with boss blinds too based off of spell cards, but as stated before we're mainly focusing on jokers at the moment, so this is more or less just a "for fun" list

I guess visionary tuning could probably be reduced to around 1 in 3
dazzling color typhoon totally breaks any flush build, not just the suit specific ones of head/window/etc.
hmm...perhaps it'd be better to say "if hand does not contain at least two suits, cards do not score" then
it would still hurt flush builds a lot, but it wouldn't outright kill them depending on when you encounter the boss blind

i think in base balatro theres a decent number of ways to neutralize bosses in the midgame, but it really is just the midgame that bosses are in issue, once you have retcon they dont matter anymore
so imo boss blinds are difficult to design, if they run kill too bad then its a really disappointing loss ~ante 6

in that regard I guess Stone Baby and Crazy Backup Dance are really weird ones since they don't actually do anything during the boss blind, but rather affect the rest of the run
(permanently is supposed to just mean lasts after the boss blind is cleared)
what does permanently mean? like could you use death to copy over the card?
or is it just stuck as up a suit

permanently is basically just supposed to mean "this change stays after the blind is cleared" so any card manip afterwards would still work
just that the red seal king you played that hand could've been shifted or turned into stone

Again I request people put their joker suggestions on the GitHub page rather than in discord as that makes it far far easier to find. There is a specific tag on the issue tracker for suggestions as well
