#Profile wiped after crash, lost 90 hours, please help

Hi, I've been working on a completionist run since launch. Just got my first gold stake win and unlocked the final deck today. I managed to buy enough playing cards from the shop to unlock that voucher, didn't see an unlock popup so I exited to the main menu, got the voucher unlock, then clicked "play" to resume my run. The game immediately gave me an error message saying savedata=null and when I restarted it my profile was completely gone. All of my progress and unlocks are gone, nothing remains. I have steam cloud saves on, is there any way to revert? I'm completely gutted right now, I put so much work into this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Once the profile information has been nulled like that there isnt much to do from my understanding

the bug seems to only occur when using multiple devices (?), so if you have another device (that didn't sync with steam cloud yet!) you might be able to pull your save from there

all the save-data is located at %appdata%/balatro

If you can't get a working version of your save back, likely the closest thing that remains is using a debug tool like #1228149931257237664 to reconstruct your progress

This happened to me too a few months ago, twice actually. It has nothing to do with changing devices, I only play on my pc and one day it randomly crashed and all progress was gone and then it happened again a week later. You'd think the devs would fix such a game breaking bug they haven't even acknowledged it. Best thing is to just stop playing the game and forget that it exists

There has been no consistency between these data losses besides crashing and then poof, and swapping devices caused cloud stuff to mess up. If thats not the case for you then the cloud messed up for some other random reason

Hard to get your exact progress back, but if you remember what you had done you can edit a profile using balatro.shorty.systems and put it into the profile folder in %appdata% balatro

@novel marsh @signal nymph Similar thing happened to me when changing gamer profiles. Do you guys have multiple profiles?

That bug was patched secretly
