Did you try updating your GPU drivers? Maybe they're outdated

I have the same thing happen when using mods, because of my anti-virus. Could that be it?

Try using Mesa 3d wrapper.

I assume you mean a full computer reboot btw? And do you have 2 different graphics processors?

have you tried forcing windows to use your dedicated gpu for rendering?

for nvidia, you can even select individual games (if you care about that) for example
