When playing a hand, sometimes Blackboard won't trigger, despite the cards held in hand only including Spades, Clubs, and Stone Cards- from a few rounds with Blackboard while playing the Medusa challenge, I've narrowed it down to it being Blackboard reading the hidden suit of the Stone Cards even though it shouldn't be. I know that it isn't an issue with Stone Cards period, because sometimes Blackboard will trigger with Stone Cards held in hand, and the only possible variable is what underlying suits are in play.
#Blackboard treats Stone Cards as having suits

it's the stone cards
not the underlying suit, the stone itself
blackboard cannot trigger if you have a stone card held in hand
The card specifically checks if all cards are either spade or club, since it is stone it has no suit and is neither, so blackboard doesnt work
huh
that... can't be right
whatever
you're not the first one to argue this, somehow this seems to be a pretty widespread belief
The strange part of Blackboard is that is does trigger if you have no cards in hand.
Does it? I feel like it's pretty abstract
No, its blackboard, not abstract joker
You can also check this by having a red wild card, despite the card being a heart/diamond, blackboard sees that it counts as a club/spade so it works
I mean there aren't any non-spade/clubs
Wild card is all suits in one card so yea (unless it's debuffed)
I think that's a really bad way to explain blackboard because of wild cards/stone cards
If it's a spade/club it counts if it isn't it doesn't
Even though wilds are also hearts and diamonds they're still clubs/spades and assuming there aren't any cards that explicitly aren't spades and clubs then it works
multiple people have started a discussion on "blackboard being bugged because it still activates with wild cards", I just think "don't have red suited cards in hand" is bad way to explain blackboard
see, the thing is, you're looking at this from the perspective of Blackboard's design logic
but the design logic of Stone Cards is, to my understanding, to be a non-factor with regards to proc-ing suit or rank conditions
so from that perspective, the fact that Stone Cards are relevant for any suit conditional, in this case Blackboard, would still seem to be an inconsistency to me
Stones aren't a spade or club, and they are a card in hand, therefore they do not work
the design logic of Stone Cards is that they don't fit in any single card group
they're not spades, hearts, clubs or diamonds
they're not a face card, not a number card, not an odd card, not an even card
But they are relevant for suit conditionals! They're always the opposite of whatever suit a Joker/Boss is looking for.
Imagine the implementation of Jokers/Bosses like asking every card a (positive) question, such as "Are you Diamonds?", then each card answering for itself, yes or no.
Stone cards always answer no whenever they get a question.
It's just if it is clubs/spades or if it isn't, not if it's hearts/diamonds, just clubs/spades, so if you make a heart/diamond count as club/spade, it works, if you make a club/spade not a club/spade, it doesn't
Stone Card has no suit, but is a card held in hand. Blackboard does not trigger, because of the Stone Card.
It makes pretty logical sense from reading it yeah
Blackboard is basically asking every card on hand "Are you a Spade or a Club?" and as soon as it hears a
it doesn't trigger. Stone card will answer
because it has no suits, but Wild card will answer "Yes" because it is basically every suit at once.
BB triggering on empty hand is probably something like "I'm not hearing a
"
Yes. That's the exact thing I've been arguing for the last 14 messages in this thread.
