Hi all!
I've put 50 hours into Balatro in less than 10 days. To say that I am enthralled and delighted with the game would be a rather gross understatement.
In that amount of time, I've taken to programs like Aseprite to do pixel art in the style of the base game of Balatro as a sort of passion project for what I've been hopelessly addicted to over the past week or so.
My initial idea was to make a fifth suit of cards... but then I thought about how to balance it in such a way so that it wouldn't stick out like a sore thumb.
So I kept building on the idea; making suit-themed Jokers to match the existing ones, one new Tarot card to convert other suits of cards to this fifth suit, new planet cards to essentially make the reverse of a flush (which I unoriginally call a "reversal")... and even three new decks that have unlock requirements further into the game than most.
So far, I've created 1x and 2x pixel-resolution files for:
The Suit of Stars (numbers, faces and ace are custom-made; the bodies of the face cards have re-used assets from the Suit of Diamonds for the most part.)
A UI Icon for the Suit of Stars
3 New Deck Back-faces
17 Joker Card Assets (some of which are very obviously made from assets taken from the base-game, others are original, others yet have roots in the sprites of other games)
1 New Tarot, 4 New Planet Cards
There are additional details in the TXT file directly located in the main directory of the ZIP. All the texture resources have been organized into the same file format as visual assets from the base game.
Currently, I am looking for people to help with LUA scripting these cards into the mod, and I would absolutely love to hear feedback!
Do not be afraid to ping me! This has been a HUGE passion project for me! I look forward to hearing what you all think!
