Having an issue booting the game. | Balatro | Page 1

Just got gifted Balatro the other day, and finally booted it up, but only got a blackscreen! The audio is playing (I think?), but nothing is on the screen beyond the remnants of the Shift-Tab notification that Steam gives.

I've checked the files, uninstalled and reinstalled, and rebooted my computer (which should be able to run the game with ease!) with no luck. It's almost like the Steam client/game engine is frozen, because Shift-Tabbing brings up the Steam Layout, but it cannot be closed again. I tried a different Steam game, and that game works, so it may just be Balatro.

Nonetheless, if you have any advice, please help!

My guess is this is the AMD driver problem

Do you have either an AMD GPU or an AMD CPU?

There are a couple examples of this exact problem and it's almost always an issue with AMD drivers - you'd need to manually update them

Yeah AMD CPU with dedicated graphics.

Yeah there is a known problem with a particular version of AMD graphics

Do not worry!

If you manually update the drivers yourself it'll fix it

#

You have to go to the AMD site to do that

#

(This is an issue with all games made in this engine, very annoying)
