Nil Value error on start up | Balatro | Page 1

I played during the beta but after release it has never worked for me.

The error message reads:

[string “return {[“ambient_control”]={[“ambientfire1”]…”]:1: attempt to perform arithmetic on global ‘inf’ (a nil value)

See photo. Again this is shown before any load screen. I have looked for similar posts on here and steam, the one from steam is unanswered

Still have not found any information in the bug reports to help with this issue.

in case you haven't tried some of the solutions that worked for other people, here's a quick list:

Verifying game integrity
Uninstalling/reinstalling the game completely
Do you have an AMD GPU? If so, make sure to update your drivers
In your files, under %appdata%/Balatro, try deleting settings.jkr, or if that doesn't work, (backing up and) deleting the complete Balatro folder at that same path

Solution 4. C deleting the whole folder and verifying game integrity afterwards did the trick . Just deleting the settings.jkr didn’t 🤷🏼‍♂️ thanks
