#musi Palato a!

once i finish the sitelen pona translation it shouldn't be hard to write a script that converts it to sitelen lasina
at some point i might try and remake the font so it's um. better
nasin nanpa looks kind of weird here
noice im new to learning toki pona (almost 2 weeks) so i guess I could use this as a learning practice
im really curious to see how you handled some of the translations
like what is "the magician"? jan nasa?
or like
the hierophant
hell i dont even know what that means in english
oh its like an ancient greek priest
so like jan sewi pi tenpo pini?
the tarots are:
open sin
jan majuna
lawa sewi
jan wawa
lawa jan
jan sewi
jan olin
jan tomo
[Justice]
[Hermit]
[Wheel]
[Strength]
[Hanged]
[Death]
death is impossible to translate unfortunately
ah you just used a nimisin for magic lol
[Temperance]
jan mani
jan pini
suno mute
suno ante
suno suli
[Judgement]
suno ale
fair enough i suppose
majuna is a nimi ku suli for 'old'
the ones in brackets i just haven't gotten to translating yet
i feel like theres a fairly popular nimisin for magic ive heard
i mean death is easy obviously
usawi
the font i'm using doesn't let me use nimi ku lili though :(
the way tarots are named is a little odd
jan X is used for enhancers
suno X is used for suit changers
lawa X is for the ones that create a pair
everything else is just a pair of words
all of the spectrals are kon X
thats interesting, i like that
so hermit cant be jan something
and death has to be two words
justice is a hard one to translate
death and hanged might both be moli X
just make death "moli a" lol
honestly? maybe
i mean its 2 words
justice could be pona utala i think
thats a bit weird but i dont think anything other than utala works better
all of them are kind of weird because of the restrictions i set up
but i think it works out
maybe judgement could be like "pilin lawa" or something
since its clearly talking about like god's judgement lawa makes sense but you cant have it first because of your restrictions
'judgement' meaning like 'decision' is a hard word to translate and idk if pilin works
yeah that works i think
strengths gotta be like lawa sijelo right
its gotta have lawa because it does 2
or am i misinterpreting your restrictions
lawa is just for priestess and emperor
ah
bc they both make 2 consumables
i think wawa sijelo should work
oh shit i totally forgot wawa was a word lmfao
its been like 2 years since i spoke any tp
temperance is interesting
i was thinking ala nasa
if you interpret nasa as drunkenness
temperance is like not drinking right
nasin ala?
i was going for 'an absence of wants'
so like ala wile more than wile ala
that works i think
but like its not that you dont have wants, its that you arent giving into them
hmm
"the devil" as jan mani is funny
nasin pona?
makes sense given the cards effect but jan ike is so obvious
it helps that mani has devil horns
true the sp is good
i feel like temperance is tied up with religious values so nasin sewi could work
like the 'holy way' or w/e
nasin nasin
ah like in past tense
that makes sense
what about like moli anpa
since when youre hanged you fall
thats good
hermit could be like insa mute or smth
idk if thats a proper use of insa
and also that could mean "20 kidneys"
i'd read that as 'really inside'
i guess im thinking of hermit crabs lmao
is "open sin" good for the fool? i mean it explains the card description but not the name of the card
should be like ala sona
or sona ala
it fits with the card's actual meaning tarot-wise
i'm using that for ouija :(
ah im not aware of those
it's the same reason that i have tower as jan pini
oujia has to do with like ghosts right
the tower symbolizes endings
so like kon moli or smth
i have that for ectoplasm :(
actually i could switch ectoplasm to kon telo
lon?
maybe ouija -> kon toki and sigil -> kon sitelen
kon toki is good
and i take it youre treating the planets as proper nouns
because they are
mun X
mun Tupita
have you done jokers yet?
the spectrals are:
familiar: kon poka,
grim: kon ike,
incantation: kon nimi,
talisman: kon mani,
aura: kon suno,
wraith: kon musi,
sigil: kon sitelen,
ouija: kon toki,
ectoplasm: kon moli,
immolate: kon seli,
ankh: kon jasima,
deja vu: kon tenpo
hex: kon pakala,
trance: kon sona
medium: kon lukin,
cryptid: kon soweli
i think a third?
maybe half title-wise
description-wise probably a quarter
i would love to help if you could give me a list of those still left
and also what youre using for common terms
"chips", "mult", "card" etc
Pastebin.com is the number one paste tool since 2002. Pastebin is a website where you can store text online for a set period of time.
that's the current localization file
sitelen pona should show up as tofu
chips are sike, mult is wawa, cards are lipu
oh i didnt know you were using sp totally
whats the plugin or w/e i have to have to render those?
jokers are lipu musi, tarot are lipu nasa, spectrals are lipu kon, planets are lipu mun, vouchers are lipu esun, playing cards are lipu meso
you'd have to download the file and a uscur sitelen pona font
i'm using nasin nanpa https://github.com/ETBCOR/nasin-nanpa
i'll write a script that converts sp to sitelen lasina
did it say why
its trying to parse a comment
this is the one i'm using
does it work if you delete the line?
i accidentally installed a 2016 version of ahk
okay now it lets me edit
can i just say arranging the version on the install page in order of oldest to most recent is malicious
still throws an error
and it also gives an error if i remove the line
what does it say
does this run?
no that's just a testing script
oh lol
it was to fix my broken keyboard
interestingly it does get 160 lines down
no it isnt because you still have the first two lines
my line 163 is
:*?: ;::{U+3000} ; logograph fullwidth space
but it does say 300C
weird
maybe just comment out all three lines
whats the comment char?
semicolon
god ahk is jank
well it seems to run without error
what do i need to do to use it?
open up the nasin-nanpa.otf file
and hit install
you might have to restart your computer but it should show up in whatever text editor you're using
do i need to put the ahk file you gave me anywhere specific?
hmm, still doesnt render the characters in notepad...
i restarted my pc
its probably fine, ill just translate without it and you can make a program to transcribe or whatever
what are you using for discard? weka?
and what about "round" and "blind"
j_sixth_sense = {
name = "sona pi luka wan",
text = {
"{C:attention}luka nanpa wan{} pi musi",
"li jo e {C:attention}6{} wan taso la, o moli e ni",
"o pali e lipu {C:spectral}kon{}",
"{C:inactive}(o jo e ala jo)"
is this good for sixth sense? not sure if my translation skills are quite up to par
discards are weka, hands are kepeken*, rounds are utala, blinds are monsuta
oh hands are kepeken
j_sixth_sense = {
name = "sona pi luka wan",
text = {
"{C:attention}luka kepeken nanpa wan{} pi utala",
"li jo e {C:attention}6{} wan taso la, o moli e ni",
"o pali e lipu {C:spectral}kon{}",
"{C:inactive}(o jo e ala jo)"
the hand played is 'luka kepeken'
ah
the type of hand played is 'kule luka (kepeken)'
yea but its about consumable space
yeah i just thought it was worth mentioning
the word hand is kind of overloaded in balatro
i need a catch-all term for consumables
so youve already done that one? it wasnt in that pastebin you sent
i just typed it
i did hiker
j_hiker = {
name = "",
text = {
"{C:attention}lipu{} kepeken ale",
"li kama jo e sike {C:chips}+#1#{}",
"lon tenpo kepeken"
}
},
the poki li ala la sina pali ala is on some other cards
ah that makes sense, more direct
the sp looks so cool i wish i could get it to work
are you using arabic numerals for like, amounts?
i guess maybe i shouldnt use tenpo kepeken for scored
etc
seems like "time of playing" not "time of scoring"
i think kama jo e +sike #1# works
what is joker (reuglar)
lipu musi
do you just slot that at the end of all of the ones with joker
at the beginning but yeah
ok
i think wheel of fortue is a lipu musi too
but the line has to be drawn somewhere
its fine
so like faceless joker would be like
lipu musi li sinpin ala (is that even correct idk)'
lipu meso for 'regular card' is kind of weird but whatever
no
lipu musi pi sinpin ala
ok ok
yeah i wondered if to put pi there
its not really a verb
it is not a sentence
all of the jokers are noun phrases
yeah
or like lipu musi pi jo ala sinpin
i am not good at toki pona
but thats just worse
i take it nyx that face cards are lipu meso sinpin
or just lipu sinpin
Isnt that like just face card
face paper but yea'
kings are lawa suli, queens are lawa meso, and jacks are lawa lili
ah that makes sense
it's less literal but i think it might be clearer
lawa lili lol
(im going to get a LOT of things wrong)
would "or more" be like anu mute
i try to teach my friends toki pona cuz they want to and then they just start saying "unpa unpa unpa unpa"
easy way to fix that problem is to graduate from middle school
yeah im gonna do that in a few months
i wonder if we all first heard of tp from the same place
i think the very first time i heard about it was wikipedia
j_faceless = {
name = "",
text = {
"sina weka e {C:attention}lipu lawa{} {C:attention}#2#{} anu mute",
"lon tenpo sama la o kama jo e mani {C:money}$#1#{}"
}
},
faceless?
i didn't really learn it until i started watching jan misali's videos
i heard it from jan misali but i only learnt it because a book im reading in school is about a minimized language and it reminded me of toki pona
i hate the jokers that are "if X do Y" because you have to reorder everything ack
what is "poker hand"? also luka kepeken?
yes
i think most of them can be reworded to avoid kule though
i might start changing some of the textures
nice
hard to distinguish between suli and lili
at that scale
j_todo_list = {
name = "",
text = {
"{C:attention}kule luka{} li {C:attention}#2#{} la,",
"o kama jo e mani {C:money}$#1#{}",
"kule luka wile li ante lon tenpo mani"
}
},
thoughts?
solution
pareidolia would translate to like all faces or something right (ale lawa????)
i mean pareidolia is a condition to do with sight
oh
so maybe like lukin sinpin?
well
thats abstract tho
i ishould be focusing on the words not the game words thigns
pareidolia is probably nasa sinpin
that makes sense
what's the context
sina kepeken e lipu mani la, o kama jo e __
for all intents and purposes the time of playing and time of scoring is the same
i suppose thats true
then i need to rephrase hiker
"{C:attention}lipu{} kepeken ale",
"li kama jo e sike {C:chips}+#1#{}",
"lon tenpo kepeken"
i feel like this works tho
(also tbf nobody is going to be installing the toki pona localization without knowing what hiker does)
i just omitted the time thing for hiker
are we doing the same ones?
lipu kepeken ale li kama jo e +sike #1#
that feels really ambiguous and makes it seem like they just are worth 4 more chips overall
hmmm
yeah
sina kepeken e lipu la, ona li kama jo e +sike #1#?
i feel like lon tenpo kepeken is redundant
thats fair
i like this
still its hard to distinguish between "when played" and "when scored"
pana is interesting
yea that works i think
what should I work on btw, i could do challenge names if you havent done those
there's not that much text in baba
i guess level titles
you have to know english to play it though :(
i meant like a resprite for the words
thats epic
mute, mute ala, mute ala mute, mute ala mute mute
(not that)
i mean you could do like quality instead of rarity
ike, pona, pona mute, epiku
(epiku is half a joke)
legendary HAS to be kijetesantakalu
please
it objectively makes no sense but its so perfect
sure
that makes sense
404 btw
i really need to memorize sp lol
hmmm
when the text is done i might go back and try to make a sitelen pona font
one that matches the game better
the game uses round in two spots
but they're named the same
so the first part of "round score" has to be the same as round #
i might add some ui code that gives it a new label
whats this sitelen?
ah i see
o luka li ante?
i cant understand that
o luka o ante e kule pi lipu 3 tawa leko
o luka o ante e lipu 3 tawa kule leko
should be like "o ante e lipu san pi lon luka tawa kule diamond"
the o luka is to distinguish cards that let you pick from those that are random
maybe then just use lipu kepeken for the ones that let you select
lipu kepeken seems like cards you're playing though
yea but you cant use tarots when youre mid hand
so it isnt really ambiguous
well im gonna leave now but ill for sure work on it later, thanks for letting me be a part of it
thanks for the help btw
i'll credit you
if the github link ends up working you should (?) be able to download and test the mod
the link works, i made a fork (i think thats the right thing to do idk shit about github)
alright well i got nasin nanpa kinda working, so ill work on translations for vouchers now.
there are a few things im unsure about so ill just wait until youre here
i translated like 5 more jokers and some various UI elements
all of it should be in my fork
i ended up having to use fairfax and i think it would fit in balatro
just fyi, im using "namako" for "tag"
tags are done
hiii i found this - i was going to try and make a translation for toki pona but wanted to check if anyone alse has done one
is this finished?
also, i dont think nasin nanpa fits the game super well
id like to make/find a 11px high font instead
okay christmas is over im making a font
goin for a style like this, trying to keep a similar feel to the m6x11+ font that balatro uses
oh shit, sorry, missed this
no, it is very unfinished
