Hi! This is my solo attempt at a mod that replaces your normal 52-card deck with a Hanafura/Hwatu deck!
I know usually this deck is associated with Japan and the games Koi-Koi/Hachi, but I'm more familiar with the Korean terms since I've played the Korean version with my family.
Right now it's just a concept, but I am currently trying to flesh it out + make the art for all 48 cards.

The concept:

  • The 48 card Hwatu deck will be replacing the normal 52 card deck.
  • Straights, Flushes, and associated hands/Jokers/consumables will be replaced.
  • Seals are replaced by 5 new "seals" (revolving around matching seals to get bonuses)
  • New Jokers that support the new "seals" will replace the old Jokers.
  • Tarots and Spectrals will be mostly the same, except for a few changes regarding the seals.
  • Planets for Straight/Flush related hands will be replaced by planets for new "seals".
  • Editions are kept the same, enhancements are mostly the same except for Wild.

I will try to go at this mod solo. If LUA is too hard I might try to get someone who knows what they're doing programming-wise onboard.

If you have any ideas for concepts/balance, please suggest! I'm terrible at vanilla Balatro so I can't be trusted with balance 😭.

I know in the original the animals were specific cards and having 5 got you 1 point, and each extra animal got you another point

If it were a seal i would maybe make an outlined butterfly maybe? It would def prevent a card from having a banner/bright and an animal at the same time
