Here is the first Idea for the Gimmick Joker for the Deck.
**-**Enemy Color - Legendary - Unobtainable aside from the special deck - Always eternal.
If the card played is not an INK card , chips X0.5 when card scores.
**-**INK card: assign X1.2 chips of the original value and have 1 in 2 chance to give 1$ when scored
- Inked Deck: Starts with a Negative joker "Enemy Color" and every number card is an INK card

"The Company" is based off of GrizzCo. maybe i could think of something including Mr. Grizz himself with a debuffing effect due to the fur while powering himself up

I've been thinking of many things that i'd love to see or help out, love the idea.
But i'd like to drop a little idea, A joker for Tacticooler
-Every 3 hands (more or less idk) played or something re-trigger the 2 adjacent jokers
(Like they are getting the buff for a bit

Would love to see more jokers around the Golden eggs, building a golden egg deck would be fun
If you want more ideas i'd love to help think of more, if not i sit and watch this be made
as of now I'm thinking about 3 kinds of stamps .
Golden Eggs:
-Every time a card scores add 25 chip and +1 $
Fur Covered:
-Every time a card scores add X1.7 Mult and remove 15 chip
Sanitized:
-Every time a card scores add 13 chip and X1.3 Mult (1 in 2 chance of failing)
Are there going to be easier ways to get the stamps? Kinda like the certificate joker?

Fun combo could be something like Little buddy can eat fur stamps before they are played
(the vampire joker but for the stamps)

If anything, I can imagine there being an entire collection of 'Victory' Jokers based on those animations that actually scale with the number of 'Victory' Jokers

what if they're like the tribal jokers where they all target different hands
"If final played hand of round is a Pair, add 1 permanent copy of last scored card to Deck" for example
you win with a hand and they do things if you do
i'm bored so i'm gonna concept some effects for jokers like this
pair - get $5 and add foil to a random joker
two pair - retrigger all played cards during next round
3oak - give 3x mult on next scored hand
flush - scales based on the suit of flush that you win with, +chips for spades, xmult for hearts, +$ for diamonds and +mult for clubs
straight - reduce next boss blind requirement by 10%, repeatable
full house - turn all cards in final played hand into ink cards (those are a good thing in this mod right)
4oak - add foil/holo/polychrome/negative to a random joker, 1 in 4 chance to repeat effect
5oak (can only appear if you have the hand unlocked) - add a permanent copy of last scored card to Deck
flush 5 (can only appear if you have the hand unlocked - all cards held in hand (not played) at end of round have their rank and suit changed to match the cards played in the final hand of the round
flush house (can only appear if you have the hand unlocked - replace all foil jokers with holo, all holo jokers with poly, and all poly jokers with negative
and this is if final played hand is a hand, not if it contains a hand, these cannot stack
oh yeah and two pair
no highcard because FUCK highcard all my homies hate highcard
i'd put these jokers as uncommons because they don't do anything unless you're already winning
if you are winning and have slots to spare, they're worth picking up
maybe there's just one "victory pose" joker, which is a rare, and its effect and animation changes (to one of these) based on your most played hand
that way it's easier to get the one for the hand you need
I feel high card, if all these are combined into one Joker, we just say L
if you win with highcard you go directly to jail
do not pass jimbo
do not collect tag
all your hands go to level zero
and the only joker you can have is red card but they all get replaced with new red cards when a blind is selected
so you can't scale them and they're eternal and they're debuffed
and you get no money or interest and the only joker in the shop is red card
and all your consumables are removed when blind selected
- forced lobotomy
you can't skip blinds and you go directly to the gold stake ante 8 boss which happens to be all cards debuffed until 1 joker sold
but you can't sell a joker so you get no enhancements or editions
make high card the dab emote and make it do nothing
and flush five the 100x victory animation but thats like a combo of four different ones
then regular five of a kind can be the 10x win emote
sorry for not being able to text in the past few days , school has been though , i have an important C1 Cambridge exam coming next week and i wont be able to do any progress on the mod , on a different note thank you all for the suggestions , i'm still utterly inexperienced in the modding scene so I think I won't be able to add any of the current suggestions . That said i will take a break for the next 2 weeks , development starts back on monday the 10th but it will be on background since it's summer and i can't stay at home all day. so i just had a flash of inspiration
special cards
a new type of consumable or just a new type of card in its own slot somewhere
play inked cards -> charge special -> use one-time powerful effect
and then you have to charge it up again
i was thinking of adding secondary weapons (bombs etc) to ink most cards
they'd work as jokers
as consumables
i think making them jokers would be cooler because they can have different activation times reflecting the different properties of the bombs
like a suction bomb could ink all the cards in the final played hand of a round
a burst bomb does it the next time you play a hand
ink mines are on sell, fizzy bombs activate multiple times
i was thinking more about using different kind of bombs to ink in different ways , still doing what you were saying but as consumables , for example:
Burst bomb: Inks 3 adjacent cards
Ink mine: when hand played inks 3 random cards in your hand
Suction Bomb: when hand played inks 3 random cards
Fizzy bombs: inks 1 random card for every hand discarded (max 3)
Torpedo: inks up to 2 selected cards
so on so forth
these effects still look more like joker effects outside torpedo and burst
yeah but they would activate only once on the next hand after the usage
that sounds unintuitive and would add extra text to every bomb
and also Inked is the worst kind of Ink

this shouldn't require any specific version jargon
any talisman update relatively recently made should work

giving passive effects while held in consumable slots

the original effect for the golden egg seal was X1.2 chips and $1 when scored, but talisman doesn't have xchips support for playing cards, and the +chips message is hard coded into the game so I can't replace it, gonna need another effect for that seal
but other than that, it is implemented and the +$1 works

thinking about golden eggs as a whole I thought it might be good to give them some kind of end of round effect or a powerful effect that only activates after X number golden egg seals are scored per hand
well then it's just a gold card.
Hmm... Well, if we have it make money, it's a worse Gold Seal/Card, we can't do retriggers as that's Red, and Tarots/Planets don't make sense for this so we don't have to worry about Purple/Blue
Maybe it could involve giving other cards the Golden Egg Seal for some kind of benefit, like you're passing it between teammates in Splatoon 3?
i think it's bad design to have a card modifier jump between cards but you might be onto something with that
each golden egg seal card could give every other golden egg seal card in the played hand permanent benefits
+5 chips and +1 mult per golden egg seal card
i picked those numbers arbitrarily
that embodies the idea of passing eggs and collection a lot of them to fill a quota, and getting a score boost for how many there are
i think that's good for the money to be put aside
that should be pretty easy to get working, i'll do it tomorrow

jesus fucking christ okay so
the issue was that I was using variables for the chips and xchips
but I want those variables to still be there on the seal and update the description properly
but for the base tooltip which is on the joker and spectral, they don't need that
so I made a second copy of the localization entry
where the only change is removing the variables
so they're static values on that copy specifically
I can finally escape

it's doing the xchips twice
updated talisman to fix that
well that was a fucking nightmare but it's done now and I can leave it alone forever and move on to something else
only took me 3 hours

Hey yall, I just encountered some unexpected behavior when downloading this mod. After installing the mod, everything that I had locked was suddenly unlocked, namely the Erratic Sleeve from the CardSleeves mod (which would normally be unlocked after beating Erratic Deck on Orange Stake), as well as all the stakes. The images below clearly indicate that that shouldn't be the case. This happened on a profile that was previously not an "unlock all" profile, and upon removing Splatro from my mod folder, all the items that had been unlocked because of this bug returned to being locked.

hey, just a QOL suggestion: could the rainbow smudges on the Mammalian enhancement be moved to the upper left and lower right corners so that the card rank and suit are a bit easier to read?

i tried it first with the smudges flipped and they were harder to read

unexpected behavior this time around. Can't play a six-card hand with the Range-8F chip. Cryptid even recognizes it as an ascended hand (hence why the chips and mult background UI changed to yellow), but the Play Hand and Discard buttons are greyed out.

the play hand and discard buttons usually say "up to X" below them when you have extra selection limit
that's not showing up, so either cryptid fucks with it heavy (VERY LIKELY) or you're on an outdated smods version and updating will fix it
if cryptid fucks with it heavy, I can't really fix it, I don't know what's wrong with it if cryptid is fucking with it
also yeah on the first version of that sprite they were in the other corners
we decided to flip them because it was too hard to read
but this is moreso reshuffled's fault for crimson heart making all the diamonds unreadable
I'm pretty sure that's what texture pack you're using?
unless CH reused it for something else, which would make sense given what I know about them

But i tested it on the vanilla suits and it looks fine
it reminded me of the original reshuffled's diamond suit
crimson heart made the symbols and colors of every single card different

and crossmod color chips are an option that I could look into since the chips' art outside the categories is just slight tone changes to the chips
or just more chips in general
i'm still keeping the mod maintained and stable even if regular content could be slow for some time
i still havent fixed the +1 selection limit chip
and there are definitely some favourite chips i should probably do something about balance wise

or I couldve put it in the SMODS.colorchip definition
so its automatically added to every color chip

Oh hey, good to see that this mod became something, I saw this thread early in its infancy and it inspired me enough to sprite one singular joker card styled color chip on my own, so it's funny to me specifically, checking in and seeing them as actual things in here

What if you had challenges that were like Stations from Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion
i.e: A challenge where all Chip Jokers are banned.
