If you destroy debuffed face cards they don't count as face cards for Canio. Idk if this is intentional, or not but in the new patch cards that are debuffed for flower pot still work so I assume they would for Canio too.

Flower Pot was specifically updated to work now. I guess that's implying that the rank and suit of a card are untouched by being debuffed, but other aspects are less important (Face/Number, Even/Odd)

The debuffed face cards specifically state though: “all abilities are disabled”
since similar jokers work the exact same way with debuffed cards (castle, faceless, mail-in rebate, the list goes on), so I’m not sure what you were expecting

Debuff essentially makes all attributes to it invisible to jokers yeah
