#Performance on 1.0.1c
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
seeing a new message in experimental got me worried there were more changes lol. so far i haven't had any issues (that weren't caused by mods) playing on steam (windows 10)
same haha
but yeah for the bit I've played on the new version, everything's been smooth sailing
So far no performance issues on my end
What platform?
running on linux here, from what I can tell there's no performance issues
No performance issues on Mac :)
I cleared my save data and turned off Steam backup so I could ensure I have default settings.
ThinkPad T470 W10DG Signature Edition
Edition Windows 10 Pro
Version 22H2
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6300U CPU @ 2.40GHz 2.50 GHz
Installed RAM 8.00 GB (7.84 GB usable)
GPU Intel HD Graphics 520
Dedicated Video Memory 128 MB
Shared System Memory 4015 MB
Driver Version 30.0.100.9865
No noticeable performance differences between 1.0.0n and 1.0.1c. The GPU fluctuates constantly but I didn't notice a higher or lower range than before.

I have a nicer machine as well I play on. This is my crappy older laptop I sometime play on
Without looking at FPS - does it feel smooth to play?
No issues on PC for me, AMD Ryzen 5 and Radeon RX 580
Let me check. It felt smooth before though.
All good then!
Just making sure, didn't know if no performance differences from 1.0.0n was a good or bad thing for you
I still get the bug where the screen is red and I only see the left-half of the screen stretched to fill my monitor
Changing windows fixes that
That happens ~5% of the time on my laptop when I start up the app with borderless
Honestly, it feels about the same. I feel like things are choppiest when cards are flying around or the shop pops in. Feels about the same.
i haven't seen any issues in performance myself
I had a run where I went deep into endless and it became extremely noticeable. Cards were jiggling when you selected them, cards accelerating and zooming across the screen then becoming fixed in place while drawing them and playing them
performance is fine for me running on linux mint 21.3, laptop from 2021 with a R5 5500U and 8GB ram
It created insane lag, my laptop was burning
It also happened when entering the shop and the zooming across the screen of cards became extremely obvious when opening a booster pack
I disabled the motion option from the settings, it did not help at all.
the newest update seems to be working on my LE OLED deck with zero issues, just as launch version
whatever was patched around an hour ago seemed to do it
Windows 10
Version 22H2
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2450M CPU @ 2.50Ghz 2.50 Ghz
16GB Ram
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M
WOOHOO!
Massive news thank you so much
I will try to play a run to see if the newest patch fixed the "zooming across the screen" cards and lag
Anecdotally, I'm playing with mostly default settings and my laptop fan is not going like it used to. I should get back to work though 😛
Now the fan turns on...
localthunk i wrote in the experimental chat accidentally regarding it but ill mention it here, the experimental build doesnt work on my work laptop however the live version works
@tawny cairn so it’s better than 1.0.0n now right?
ill have to try it out on my gaming laptop and see if it works there
What are the platform specs?
It’s a new exe - are you sure your system isn’t blocking it?
Because the chances shouldn’t have impacted compatibility
hmm not sure
any fixes in 1.0.1c to the bugginess when using a monitor with HDR enabled?
1.0.1c is working as well as live version for me on the deck as far as I can tell. All the early cases of lag have vanished and the transitional stuttering is gone too
Okay sweet, so you weren’t having issues on 1.0.0n then?
No, anything not in the patch notes likely wasn’t fixed
No worries! hopefully you find time in the future for it!
yes, no issue. ran like butter for hundreds of hours : )
happy to see it all sorted, nice work !
I will report if anything pops up
I quickly speedran to ante 8 on base difficulty. There is 0 lag just like the live version. Whatever patch applied on the last 2-3 hours seems to have fixed the problems I mentioned.
Wonderful!!
Can you get an eternal perishable joker or are those two mutually exclusive?

oops
I haven't had any performance issues on the couple of runs I've done on Windows unmodded
I'll try out my steam deck later today and see if I find any
I never really had any lag or performance issues before though so I guess nothing changing is good?
nothing on my end, windows 10
On a relatively low end win10 laptop, had issues in 1.0.0 with the game slowing down on 4x speed while streaming. On 1.0.1 I streamed yesterday with not too many issues, though there was the occasional lag spike
Have had no problems whatsoever on Windows 10. Great update so far!
Feels slightly smoother for me on a laptop ig
No issues on Linux. EndeavourOS using Proton GE 9.2. Everything smooth.
Performance is generally buttery smooth, but I had a brief session where it was really gross and laggy. Restarting didnt fix issue, but it fixed itself and hasnt come back yet
I should say Ive never had this in 1.0.0
overall tho 1.0.1 performs better for sure
performance is smooth. I had one or two minor stutters but other than that is good.
Latest experimental patch ran very nicely on Steam Deck last night. I didn't try it before your performance patch yesterday, so I can't compare, but I didn't notice any major issues.
I get the occasional drop from 60fps down to 50ish fps, but it is the same as stable from what I can tell.
ui bug persists - if the left card in shop is selected on re-roll, the red tag indicating you can immediately buy and use does not appear.
Just want to report that the performance on Steam Deck has significantly improved for me in the latest patch (1.0.1c-FULL), all the stuttering issues from the first experimental patch seem to have been alleviated, will play more and see if anything else arises.
Does purchasing Overstock Voucher replace the existing unpurchased cards in the shop in addition to populating the shop with a full set of new cards?
Remember this thread is for discussing performance on 1.0.1c only!
Sorry; it's performing well on PC, but I do feel like I'm seeing fewer random negative, holographic, etc. Jokers.
Where can i post any feedback for the 1.0.1c?
Sorry for the question, but do you already have a date for the update?
So much changes
the performance patch noticeably fixed issues I was having before it, particularly in situations where a lot of cards on screen had shaders
this was on a steam deck oled
When you say 'before' are you referring to the base game? Like 1.0.0n?
the first experimental build of 1.0.1c; I haven't seen issues since updating the experimental build
Ah okay - did you ever have issues with 1.0.0n?
Playing on Windows 10 PC. I opted into this patch and now the game won't launch at all. I've tried applying the update and uninstall/reinstall, I've verified the games files, and when I remove the patch the game launches like normal. Any idea what I messed up or how to fix?
Can you give details about your platform?
The exe updated so it's possible your antivirus is flagging it - could check windows defender to see if it blocked Balatro.exe
Otherwise let me know the specifics about your machine and I'll take a look
Alright I'll look at that
I don't see it being flagged by antivirus.
Laptop specs:
OS: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
Processor - Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10850H CPU @ 2.70GHz 2.71 GHz
RAM: 16GB DDR4 (2x8GB)
Video: Nvidia GeForce MX250 NV N17S-G2
Storage: SAMSUNG 980 SSD 500GB PCle 3.0x4, NVMe M.2 2280
Battery: 51 WHr, 3 cell, ExpressCharge
I don't recall ever noticing any
the run I noticed problems most in began in 1.0.0n and had no performance issues until I updated
Build running smooth here, love the re-balance of most jokers
Hi there localthunk, I'm experiencing this issue with the patch aswell, here are my computer's specs
Processer: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4510U CPU @ 2.00GHz 2.60 GHz
Installed RAM: 8.00 GB (7.88 GB usable)
System type: 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
OS: Windows 10 Home
I just downloaded the new version and I’ve seen one glitch. Every time I open a pack, click on blind, play a hand, the sound stops (besides the background music) and then all of the skipped audio plays at once. Windows 10 Steam
im having trouble getting the game to load after i add the experimental branch beta to my file
it updates fine after i select it but then the actual game wont boot up, anyone else having this same problem? i haven't seen anyone else except a couple people on reddit.
Also, thank you localthunk for making this absolute banger of a game that has taken over my brain!!
No issues for me on Steamdeck. I would previously get some noticeable slowdown if I had a bunch of jokers and cards with editions.
yep having the same issue
Hey I'm not sure if this is the right place to report bugs for the experimental build. I'm pretty sure brainstorm isn't working with the new 8 ball (but it says compatible). I had about 8 triggers per hand with four of a kind and seltser and it never twitched over many rounds, just the 8 ball would twitch. Not sure if just visual or actually not working.
Played for plenty of hours on the experimental, no performance issues so far. Everything looks good! Playing on windows
Playing on a steam deck, I'm getting frame drops when I open packs.
hey, sorry, I mentioned playing on the Steamdeck OLED LE. I’m actually still getting frame drops on 1.0.1c in very rare cases.
I’ve put 30 hours on the experimental branch and they aren’t consistent and repeatable like they were in the first experimental patch. these stutters and frame drops are wildly infrequent, but still happen unlike in launch 1.0.0n
Steam deck performance is great
For me*
Power usage seems a bit high though, I'm sure optimization somewhere is possible
I have a friend who, when switching to experimental beta the game wont launch at all anymore. But when he switches back it launches like normal
It's hard for me to give specifics off the cuff, but I've been playing the new beta on a pretty outdated PC and it's performing much better than the initial release, IMHO!
found a solution to this: 2019 or latest v140 VC++ needs to be manually installed if this is happening. Is there a way for you to add it to download with the game?
it can be downloaded here https://learn.microsoft.com/en-US/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170
believe i've found an issue on the beta build - playing Five Card Draw Challenge Deck, selected mega spectral pack, used immolation to destroy whole hand - I now cannot skip pack or use any of the other options except polychrome (which I don't want to).
Playing on windows PC, steam
first issue I've had on the beta so far!
Been playing it on steam deck today in experimental and its running great! No issues on my end
this worked for me! Thanks!
you beautiful son of a bitch!!! you finally gave me a solution!!!! Thank you!!! I can finally play the beta and all its changes!
yeah this is how stencil works, stencil itself is counted as an empty slot (also this is the wrong thread)
Yeah wrong thread also if stencil didn't work like that if you had full joker slots stencil would be X0 lol
