#No Soundtrack

Same ^ bought the game a couple hours ago and can't hear any music. Can hear the little bongo effects here and there but no music. Bought the soundtrack and never heard any of the songs played in game.
I tried verifying the integrity of the game files and no improvement. On windows 11/steam version of the game
Also, a lot of the sound effects are missing too. I just realized when watching a stream
I just uninstalled and reinstalled the game and no improvement, soundtrack and most SFX missing
yeah ive tried absolutely everything I can think of i even uninstalled the game and reinstalled it to a different drive/directory and i still have no music and barely any sfx :|
Can you open the exe as an archive with 7zip? I'm curious as to whether it's an issue of playback or if the audio somehow isn't in the exe
thanks for replying Jacred, is the exe the application file? what directory would it be in?
right-click Balatro in your Steam library and navigate to this option
okay, i found it. i was able to open the archive with 7zip. there are folders for engine, functions, localization, and resources
basically none of the sfx play except for the menu click sound and at the beginning and end of round theres like a little bongo or drum sound that plays
yeah the .ogg files i am able to launch in media player and they play correctly
really weird that a reinstall didnt fix it, im tempted to dust off an old laptop and download balatro on steam on there and see if i get playback on a different computer
I tried deleting and re-fetching specific .dlls with no improvement. I even tried installing balatro to a different directory on my machine and the audio is still completely broken. no audio cues work except for the menu option click sound.
For some reason the only sounds that I can hear while playing are the basic tick noises for clicks and the noise when you beat a blind. I can only assume there's supposed to be more, and I don't get any music at all. I've checked my in-game audio settings, and the volume sliders are up and all my other system sounds are working, other games soun...
this steam thread is exactly consistent with my issue
the fix in this thread works for me. it seems like, even when re-fetching OpenAL32.dll it is still broken/corrupted. So I went to a third party website and downloaded the .dll and renamed it "openAL32.dll" and lo and behold I have sound
thank you!! thats so weird that this works but thank you
yeah its such a huge relief to be able to hear the game lol I'm glad it worked for you also
had to redo this cause of the minor update today. seems like you gotta replace the file after every update until this bug is fixed
Me too. the update today re-broke my audio. LOL! This time I just renamed the file OpenAL64.dll, and that also fixed the problem. saw it as a fix somewhere else
