#Game will not save progress, even after new patch

I have played a bunch of runs and see a bunch of things unlocked in my collection, but when I relaunch the game, my profile is empty, my collection is empty, and it makes me play through the tutorial again. Very annoying

#

and it says "P1" instead of the name I set

I'm having the same problem and 1.0.0j didn't fix it, neither did turning on or off Steam Cloud saves.

#

Steam also says it's saving 0 bytes in the cloud whether that option is on or off

I have the same issue when i launched my game today, has this been adressed yet ?

mint eagle
#

Same Issue here too, really frustrating not to keep the progress after playing

I'm working on this one - it's a tricky bug because it might have something to do with steamcloud

snow zealot
sweet moat
#

Oh really?

snow zealot
#

Yes. I'm not sure if it's relevant but yeah. I do have a steam cloud file in my app data folder but idk why I still have the issue

I think it's every time you launch or exit the game, even profile renaming doesn't work for me

snow zealot
#

For the record, I updated to 1.0.0k and tested again with the same outcome

Can you turn off cloud sync?

snow zealot
#

Ok I disabled cloud sync in the steam settings but it did not change anything 😦

Is the game installed on a different drive than your Appdata/Roaming/balatro folder?

snow zealot
#

No they are both in my D: drive

sweet moat
#

And is there anything in your Appdata/Roaming/Balatro folder?

snow zealot
sweet moat
#

That's brotato

snow zealot
#

LOL

#

oops my bad

sweet moat
#

I get it confused sometimes too lmao

snow zealot
sweet moat
#

Can you keep that open and try playing the game in windowed mode?

#

To see if anything is created

snow zealot
#

i have 2 monitors

#

but yes

sweet moat
#

If you create a profile it should create a folder and files

#

to test

snow zealot
#

Ok, then no, nothing is created

sweet moat
#

Is there a C drive?

snow zealot
#

Yes

sweet moat
#

Is there an appdata/roaming folder there?

snow zealot
#

i did this thing a while back where all C drive stuff like that gets pointed to the D drive

sweet moat
#

I'm guessing that might be part of the issue, I think someone else had this problem a few months ago

#

Like a symlink?

snow zealot
#

yeah exactly that

sweet moat
#

Is there a way you can install it on the C drive?

#

Even just to test

snow zealot
#

ok

#

i'm still not seeing anything created in Roaming after installing it in C

sweet moat
#

in either roaming folder?

#

(C or D)

snow zealot
#

well...there kinda isn't one in C? It just points to the one in D

#

like its the same files with 2 differnet paths

sweet moat
#

So which actual drive is that folder on?

#

is it on D symlinked to C?

#

or vice versa

snow zealot
#

i thought it was C pointing to D but i'm trying to verify

#

if I type %appdata% i go to C

#

no

#

its like...

#

It brought me to C/.../AppData/Roaming

#

but when i clicked back into just AppData

#

now i'm in D

sweet moat
#

This might be a known bug with the engine I am using - trying to verify

#

If the save dir uses symlinks

snow zealot
#

Awkward. Never had this issue before

sweet moat
#

You likely haven't played a game with this engine - I doubt it's a problem with others

#

Called love2D

snow zealot
#

i've played move or die

sweet moat
#

I think I'm using 11.4 and it looks like a symlink bug was fixed in 11.5

#

So I'll have to give that one a try

snow zealot
#

Oh no. Well i'm happy to help test a beta branch or something

sweet moat
#

Thank you, I'll add a beta branch if that's the case and let you know

Having the same problem with the latest build (1.0.0k)

#

I'm using a directory junction for my user folder rather than a symbolic link but they're not all that different so I'll put my report here

#

I've put together a minimal unfused game to verify where the problem came from, basically a script that tries to write the version of love2D to a txt file under the save folder

#

it returned an error saying "Could not set write directory" when I tested it with 11.4, but 11.5 threw no error at all and a txt was created successfully

sweet moat
#

I'm going to be pushing an updated version with 11.5 in an experimental beta branch for you all to test and validate that it's working

#

At some point today

sweet moat
#

Actually right away!

mint eagle
#

Same, using a symlink, who would have guessed that it would come back to bite us in the ass in the end Face_CursedLaughing

sweet moat
#

I think I have a fix!

mint eagle
#

Balatro Demo ?

#

I think you misstyped and said the Demo instead of the actual game

#

Cuz I know the demo ain't here no more

sweet moat
#

Yes sorry!

#

updated

Issok

Just tried the experimental build and it saved my profile name change! Haven't tested further than that but will post again if I encounter any problems.
