It's a "brainstorm", but it's just for fun, not necessarily for any practical purpose, unless you want to count modding in the future.

Localthunk has stated that Achievements in the full game will be directly tied to unlocks. However, this discussion can be about those and their implementation, or just any cool thing you can do in the game that might be neat to have an achievement for.

Achievements are at their best when they teach you about the game and encourage you to use core mechanics, and they're at their worst when they're either based on dumb luck ("get this combo that's a 1-in-bignum chance") or they require something extreme that doesn't emerge naturally from gameplay (like "discard a hand that would score enough to win the end boss")

Thoughts on secret achievements? I dislike them. Achievements can be vague hints about how to get them, but the ones that are completely obfuscated are unfun to me. You either have to look them up or wander into them after trying everything for hours and hours
