#Base Difficulty

I had the benefit of watching videos of the game beforehand so I knew a bit of the selection of strategies available. I think that is a big part of the initial difficulty of roguelikes - learning the viable strategies
having learned them, I would say the game is between C and D. but the difficulty systems will probably fix that. Also knowing every boss ahead of time in the demo is a decent ease in difficulty too
I found it surprising that you can defeat a blind by just playing 1-2 hands so often, I expected I'd need to play more
Made the game seem easier than it probably is
Same
and i facepalmed whenever someone misplayed
its just right
easy to learn, hard to master
I think for me it’s a coinflip between B and C. I had watched someone else play it so that facilitated the entry, I would guess. The main challenges I’d say are: learning Poker rules, and gaining experience about what makes sense and what doesn’t.
I won for the first time after ~6 hours of play, and I didn’t feel discouraged. I think I’m still very much skill issued, but I don’t know if I would suggest any changes to the demo when it comes to difficulty.
Also the title of this thread is misspelt
🤯
Maybe tutorialization, especially in the finalized game, but I don’t have any suggestions myself
I.. can not remember how my experience was at the beginning lmao
dissociative disorder memory issues go brr
To be fair I can’t remember much either
Base Difficulty
I thought something was wrong so I reread it before posting and was like "no that's spelled correctly", stupid brain
I think I lost on Ante 5 on my first run, had the Verdant Leaf wtf moment on my second, and beat it on the third. Was a nice experience, had me hooked. 🙂
im not quite sure how to answer this pole, the very first time i played was the OG demo back in july and to me it was incredibly hard
after the first couple hours I was googling tips, so I'd say I was a little overwhelmed. eventually I kind of gave up on finding help online and learned how the game worked though
unfortunatly googling balatro doesnt really come up with nothing since the game is too new and not that well known, not until recently is when the wiki would show up
mhm
I found it a bit too easy but only because I'd been following the game for ages already lol
I think it's probably around the right difficulty but the short length made it feel easier
plus the same boss blind for every ante in every round also makes things feel easier
as you know what’s coming next (eg paying attention to the physhic)
but if bosses were randomized with the seed (eg you get arm ante 2), it would create an unexpected obstacle that would need to be passed (for example, a full house build)
i feel this difficulty increase when i reroll the boss blind in an attempt to get all of the blinds that can be discovered into my collection
one time i rerolled the blind and got the arm, and i hard pivoted into a two pair build as i found some planet cards for it
I found the game to be hard, but then the more I played the more info I had on cards and the more combos I figured out
and also I realized how important money cards are early on
Even though I felt it to be a little hard at the start, it was very much clear that it was due to a lack of me understanding the proper strategies. That ‘just right’ difficulty that leaves room to grow and still have challenge later
It's tough to answer this one because at first I found it too difficult to complete, but I knew it was due to lack of skill because I had seen NL play and do well, so I knew if I persisted for a bit I'd get the hang of it. At no point did I feel it was harder than the game should be, merely too hard for me to complete until after a couple of runs. Don't know if that helps anything. I have 16 hours in the demo now and I think I got the hang of it after less than an hour
