Ethereal: Grants 2x it's chips value (encouraging you to put it on higher-value cards) and discards itself when it stays in hand (kinda like Metal cards, but helps indirectly thin the deck slightly)
Appearance: teal-white mix-texture, slight transparency

Mummy/Zombie/Infected: When played, may turn a random other played card into a copy of itself (overwriting that card's enhancement/edition/seal)

Putty: Loses it's rank and suit, copies the rank and suit of a random other card in hand when played (BEFORE hand starts being scored)
Appearance: Brown or Purple putty

Smudge: Next time it's played, it's permanently transformed into a random card. 50% chance to have a random Enhancement and 5% chance to have a random Seal.
Appearance: Center symbols are replaced with a "?"-shaped smudge similar to wildcard.

Dog-eared: If a dog-eared card is in the next 5 (buff/nerf as needed) cards you'll draw, an indicator above your deck will say so
Appearance: Top-right corner is folded over like a dog-eared page in a book

Decks where you start with some putty cards or some random cards are set to ethereal/smudge at the start of a run could be cool

Ethereal is very weak.
Infected is very strong.
Putty is very strong.
Smudge is very weak.
Dog-eared is very weak.

#

That said, there's a lot of room for tweaking.

Do you have any suggestions for rebalancing?

Ethereal should give much more in chips, +50 might put it on the same power level as a stone card
Infected is actually not that bad if it removes buffs, now that I think about it
Same with Putty, it just helps to make better hands, but its unpredictability makes a good downside.

I’m not sure if Smudge can be buffed

Ethereal could grant 2x to all chips from the card or before.
Maybe just have smudge give one of the better card enhancements 100% of the time on a randomly transformed card.

The concept of dog-eared, only being able to tell when you’re going to draw a specific card, is the same, I don’t think it can be buffed. It could always appear in your starting hand, but that’s already been suggested elsewhere

what if they have an increased chance to start in the top half of your deck?
