#UPCOMING FEATURES

Voting for all 5 is as little use as not voting right
Yes that is why I mentioned 1-3, gives me information
yea ill go for my top 3 lol
my favorite part of roguelikes is how unique each run feels, so im definitely looking forward to all the new content, and the exponentially expanded number of combinations that come with it :)
oh we can vote for more than 1. challenge runs will be cool too (for similar reasons)
What does B mean (like what is meant by modify the base loop)
My top 3 are Content, Challenge runs, and the Stake system. Honestly 2 and 3 are because those just fall under the "content" category for me haha. Anything that changes how the game works or how you play adds so much content in a roguelite. Daily challenges usually aren't my personal cup of tea but I love when they exist because it adds a lot of longevity to a game and is awesome for the community at large. Mastery is something that is great for even longer term play and just a nice tedious checklist for anyone who wants a very long-term goal to work towards 🙂 I think the inclusion of these features shows that the game will have a lot of depth for players who want it, which is very important when so many roguelites release very shallow in ways that can't easily be fixed with content updates.
Likely to be the same yeah varied gameplay = good
challenges where certain aspects of the game might work differently, for example (not necessarily a good one) maybe you have to win without any jokers showing up in the shop or something
ah
or starting with a set of jokers that make you play differently
like a ceremonial dagger stuck to the leftmost slot meaning you have to sacrifice something every blind
Exactly ideas like that. They really fundamentally change how you play the game, I think challenge mode in Balatro has an opportunity to be incredible
yeah I think, if pushed to the limit, balatro challenge runs will really put the game over the top even for casual players
okay I'm sold
because the stake system, daily challenges, mastery, and endless mode tend to be features for long term players that are already in very deep but a good set of challenges can be fun to jump into from hour 1
I can't remember who came up with the idea but Imagining a challenge run where you have all glass cards and you can't change them, needing to win before your deck shatters. Stuff like that makes it feel almost like puzzle mode
i think dicey dungeons did this very well with basically every part of the game being a challenge run and they all feel puzzly in different ways
unfortunately the core replayability suffers from that format, i think? but with balatro already having an insanely strong core gameplay loop, good challenges on top is chefs kiss lol
suprised to see daily seeded runs not getting a lot of love
in my experience with such things, they reward specific things that some people learn how to exploit (not necessarily negative) to their maximum rather than rewarding the solid general play that i enjoy
We need some actual achievements, so I would say my most looked forward to is e I also think we definitely need a ton of content, so I’m also excited for D and I really like the idea of A. C and B are also amazing and I would love to see them, but you said to not pick three or more.
Challenges was my third vote, but I'd prioritize achievements over it if neither offer any kind of new unlock. Thinking of Binding of Isaac and how challenges unlocked items/tarots/trinkets/etc. If neither give anything, I'd go for achievement-hunting over challenges.
(Though I guess if Challenges also give achievements, then I'd logically have to pick challenges eitherway lol)
hard to vote for not 4 options 😅
i think stake system is better cuz, if we just get more content like jokers and decks, its still the same game loop, same difficulty, just more things to collect, but with stake system, the game might actually get harder or something, would be just nice, it feels better to win a harder difficulty than just have collected all other stuff imo.
but i stull choosed stake system and content tho
stake system hypeeee
