Hi @high drum. I'm kapa.ai, your friendly support bot. I will try to answer your question by searching through the knowledge base.
Deepgram pricing is primarily based on the duration of audio processed, billed by the second (not rounded up to the nearest minute). For example, if you transcribe 61 seconds of audio, you are billed for exactly 61 seconds, not 2 minutes. The cost per second depends on the model and features you select (e.g., Nova, Enhanced, Base, Whisper, and add-ons like summarization or sentiment analysis). You can find the latest rates and model options on the Deepgram Pricing page.
Key points about pricing and duration:
- Billing Unit: Deepgram bills by the second of audio processed, not by the minute or by request. There is no rounding up to the nearest minute or request—actual audio duration is used for billing.
- Model Selection: Pricing varies by the model (e.g., Nova, Enhanced, Base) and any additional features (like summarization, topic detection, etc.) you enable in your request. Nova is the most cost-effective and accurate model currently available.
- Add-ons: Features such as summarization, sentiment analysis, and topic detection are billed based on the number of input and output tokens processed.
- Multichannel Audio: If you use the multichannel feature, each channel is billed separately. For example, a 1-minute stereo (2-channel) file with
multichannel=truewill be billed as 2 minutes of audio. If you do not enable multichannel, the audio is converted to mono and billed as a single channel, regardless of the number of channels in the original file How is multichannel billed?, Pricing Speech-To-Text by stereo audio (2 channels). - Silence/Noise: You are billed for all audio sent for transcription, including silence or noise, because Deepgram cannot determine the content until after processing Pricing: Do you charge for audios totally in silence or audios with only noise?.
- No Minimums: There is no minimum duration per request; you are only charged for the actual audio processed How exactly pricing works?.
