Do we get charged by number of requests or by audio transcribed?
If so What is the cost per request?

Hi @round quiver. I'm kapa.ai, your friendly support bot. I will try to answer your question by searching through the knowledge base.

Deepgram charges based on the duration of the audio transcribed, not the number of requests. The cost is calculated per second of audio. For instance, if you transcribe 61 seconds of audio, you will be billed for 61 seconds of usage, not 2 minutes (120 seconds) [source (https://deepgram.com/pricing)].

The cost per minute varies depending on the model and tier you're using. For example, if you're using the base tier of the general model, the cost is $0.0125/minute. If you switch to the nova tier, the pricing is $0.0044/minute [source (https://github.com/orgs/deepgram/discussions/249)].

For multichannel audio, each channel is transcribed and billed separately. The total cost when using multichannel is the single-channel cost multiplied by the number of channels [source (https://deepgram.com/pricing), source (https://github.com/orgs/deepgram/discussions/932)].

Also, you will be charged for transcribing silent audio and noise as Deepgram doesn't know the audio doesn't contain silence or noise until after the transcription process is invoked [source (https://github.com/orgs/deepgram/discussions/293)].

Don't forget to check out Deepgram's Pricing page (https://api.kapa.ai/query/v1/go/97a190b4-3626-4c8d-b905-71c37c940efe?question_answer_id=c9694f9b-7445-41ce-ab02-66e6a80abf36&thread_id=61ac7cb6-1298-44f3-aafd-4311db9c79f3&source=CTA) for more detailed information.
