Hello all,

PLEASE DO NOT REQUEST NEW FEATURES and try to keep the discussion focused on the core question here.

We are contemplating a creative mode cabin feature where players could make designs with an unlimited inventory (and access to unlimited customization) in a certain cabin. This would not add them to the player inventory, players would just be able to save out and share their layouts and work towards making them in other cabins with their actual inventory.

One thing we came across is that this could potentially be quite spoilerific if we give access to all character, DLC, and other items from the beginning (This would be available after attracting a certain X visitors to the island). The intent is to be unlimited, so would it upset folks if they were able to see things before they were necessarily accessible? And if so, what sort of unlock gates would you prefer? Eg: a character's full furniture set becomes available as soon as you meet that character, an area's furniture as soon as you reach that area? What about for DLC, where we would like to give folks who haven't purchased it a chance to design with those items?

That My Sweet Piano outfit is so cute. 🥹

Anyways.
I think it would be great if people without the DLCs could design with the items with the DLC!
I personally wouldn’t mind seeing items before they were necessarily available, though I do understand some people could find that to be frustrating or feel it spoils upcoming surprises.

I was assuming it would be full customizations only of items you catalogued. But I do really like the idea of say the current event everything unlocks at teh start so you could test things out and figure out what you want. and the guide videos would be easier to show items and customizations

I am the kind of person who doesn’t enjoy being spoiled on future event furniture and clothing, but I don’t mind being spoiled on future lore/content, so it’s kind of a balance I think!

tiny valve
# karmic dagger I was assuming it would be full customizations only of items you catalogued. But...

The one thing that would be based on your own personal inventory would be unique data items -- things like flower patterns and customizations, imagination cafe food, and flower-related creations like crowns/candles. Including all of those would be deeply overwhelming for folks not used to it, so the game would look at which ones you have and make those infinitely available whilst you're in this cabin.

i would be unbearably excited to be able to see items before they're available. and decorating with an unlimited inventory sounds like a dream. it's like being able to decorate to your fullest potential. i just hope the creator cabin would be much bigger than a regular cabin so that the space doesn't feel limited compared to the amount of items we can play with.

You know how in regular cabin you can select the character to filter the items I think when it comes to spoiler in that sense it would be a good gate? Like I don’t want to see the new chococat set, so I wouldn’t select his icon to add into the visibility

karmic dagger
#

it's a major change to wrap my head around having items in creative that you have never seen in game or have any idea how they get unlocked and potentially that none of us know how to unlock. I think at the very least maybe NOT including things that are not available to see in game during normal game play? it's a huge shift otherwise because then every update task 1 is go to creative cabin and look at every item for new stuff, which I guess is what data miners do anyway but then available to everyone (also seeing how this gets complicated quickly)

bitter musk
karmic dagger
#

dlcs, if included for those who do not have them, maybe put them in a different tab with a pop up, these items are in dlc or something

unique pulsar
#

Yeah, I agree that it should probably be limited to items that are currently available in the game, and not any future items that aren’t available to anyone yet. Aside from that, I wonder if there could be some way, based on game data, to determine what in the game would spoil a player and what is currently available for them to find that they haven’t yet, and maybe make a filter or something based on that to let the player choose?

modern needle
karmic dagger
#

but I think the don't spoil me equivalent would just be your catalogue (anything you've touched) - unlimited version all custom + everything in any current event +maybe anything that has been available in an event you have played during or since your start of play date + maybe all mini game items

#

Whatever it is, it needs to be easy to understand.

modern needle
#

i feel like we can do that now no? by the end of an event, we have multiples of furniture and late game players already have hundreds of dye so there's nothing really stopping us from customizing as much as we want

karmic dagger
# modern needle i feel like we can do that now no? by the end of an event, we have multiples of ...

I don't have all the item multiples and dye options I could want. But suppose you miss an event or don't get everything i an event or don't get all the multiple, or it is just the day 1 of an event- the full event item set would be usable in creative cabin mode to use as many as you want and all the colors you could want. It would let you test out all the new event furniture day one so you could see what you might actually want to get multiples of

i think this chat alone def shows the importance of not having spoilers. bc i would rather sacrifice wanting to be spoiled instead of spoiling stuff for those who wouldn't want to be spoiled and have no warning.

karmic dagger
#

but beyond that, it feels like a huge uhhhhh like your catalogue (ACNH style), full creative dev mode including unreleased (Dinkum style), some kind of everything available under normal game play (complicated), some everything available to your stage of play with batches unlocked throughout the game (like you find a mini game - pop up all those prizes now available in hkia creative cabin)

All I have to say is 😭 This would be a dream come true for me

A toggle like sproutsiesprout suggested above would be perfect for this i think, maybe have it off by default, then it's up to the player whether they want the spoilers or not.

Some folks don't mind spoilers as it excites them and gives them something to potentially work towards outside of the creative mode. But I get it with the folks who don't want spoilers as well, I also don't want anyone being accidentally spoiled. spiritheart

Overall, a creative mode sounds so fun and the possibilities here for even better decorating are SUPER exciting! Having the limits lifted could allow for some super cool rooms that wouldn't of been possible especially for players who don't play often but who still want to make cute cabins. 🥰 🥹

I suppose my largest concern with a full creative mode is that it would contribute to existing issues with crashing and performance, is there a way to ensure having access to all items to design with (as I assume this includes dyed variants) won’t overload devices’ processing?

tough mountain
#

Would
Pieces be dyeable?

#

I somewhat love the challenge of having certain limits. Would it be too much if the creative mode changed with the events

#

Yes I absolutely want every piece at all times

#

But I think having a bit of a limit or what’s available will keep creative mode constantly “fresh”

#

This could
Also help w spoilers

karmic dagger
#

would creative cabin designer be within game or a separate load in? (if separate than our whole catalogue vs all vs future doesn't matter the same way

wicked echo
#

It could help give a sense of how much of each furniture type you want to buy, based on how things fit together. Seeing the preview is one thing, but being able to see how the items look in space is another

#

I wouldn’t have so many light time tents otherwise 🥲 I thought they would stack

tough mountain
#

The more I think about this the more I think give me unlimited but don’t give me everything

wicked echo
#

Yeah. Too many options is simply overwhelming

karmic dagger
#

I would like ability to use all craftables I have recipes for even if I have not crafted them though. That's fine with me

#

(and a toggle for made it/not and all the other sort/filter options) and a sort by new for every tab

#

I do not need every name of a city town cafe item. Those can go in their own tab and just give visually different ones if they are in there

#

3 layer sub tabs - food, normal -city town, vertical under city town for the types with the visually different options under each - if CT food included

bitter musk
#

Will Cabin Creative Mode also be applying to the clothes used on clothing stands in it? Maybe even for photography with our avatar there? It would also help with the designer aspect and could be a "try before you buy" sort of thing.

karmic dagger
#

I do like inclusion of mini game prizes even if you haven't won them all (after having access to game) so you know if you want to try for things

karmic dagger
tough mountain
#

Would creative mode have the 200 limit like cabins do now?

static flame
#

oh man, that sounds awesome, unlimited decorating in a special cabin, just to try out different things so you don't waste resources if it doesn't work out

tiny valve
#

(Assuming you had enough of the items in your actual inventory, of course)

#

It would also likely be a fully separate load in, for performance optimization

Ok forgive me, I’ve had to reread twice cause my family has been sharing one hotel room for a weekend and my kids are 3/5/9 so I’ve barely slept 🤪😂 so would creative cabin mode be it’s own physical location we go to to design? (Then we save and apply the design to our own cabins?)
If so - this is a dream. Unlimited customizations?! Amazing!! If this included customizing furniture like the stove, wallpaper, or other non customizable items, then sign me up!

I’m someone who loves spoilies, so the idea of seeing the future items is more exciting than anything. I don’t necessarily think we have to rush unlocking certain visitors. And maybe this is because I’ve played since forever and have waited a year or however long to get some visitors, and I just feel like it’s part of the experience of game play.

I think having an unlock to furniture sets from the jump would be nice, and easier, but getting certain items through quests is ok too. I think my frustration is typically not knowing if or when they’re coming along. For example, I have a couple twin stars chairs, but nothing else. Are there more? I don’t know 🤷🏻‍♀️ but having the full unlock is great for those collections where I don’t have the full set, even after all this time (like the Nordic and fwish sets)
But I think one thing I need to confirm is: in design mode, items that are not within your inventory, won’t show up when designing our own cabins? So we would be saving a layout, and then selecting the saved layout to apply to our cabin. And once selected, it would load but without the items missing from our inventory? You mentioned working toward those with our actual inventory - so just making sure I’m interpreting this correctly.

I haven’t had time to read through everything yet, airport and all, but I’ll just mention it in case it hasn’t been mentioned.
It would be nice if there was no spoilers for future content, or content not unlocked yet. I think they could be added the moment a new event goes live though - so you can look at them in this creative cabin from day 1.

Maybe all things that can appear in shops should be available though.

For the DLCs (not owned) I think I would’ve preferred a toggle button in the settings (show DLC content).

tawny heath
#

This may count as suggesting a new feature, but for the items we don’t have in inventory, but have available in the creation mode, it would be fun if we could order items from a “catalog” from MyMelody or My Sweet Piano. This could be helpful for the DLC content too, so they order items without having to purchase the full DLC. Also it could include sneak peaks of what’s to come, but if there is a filter option that others mentioned, you wouldn’t have to see the spoilers.
It seems a filter or game setting option may be a good solution since people feel strongly one way or another.

I also dont mind others use dlc if they dont have

wicked echo
#

Maybe a separate tab for DLC items just so they aren’t conflated with things accessible in the base game that haven’t been unlocked yet

stuck bloom
#

what if the items were locked behind optional tasks the player can choose, at their discretion to unlock specific sets? I think having a balance of making everything available unlimited, but if the player doesnt want to have certain sets "spoiled" they can just not do the task associated with the set. Im not sure if this is making sense but I think the quests shouldnt require the same material requirements as the normal story quests, its more of an agreement to be spoiled executed through a task associated

#

Sorry I am late. I feel that a togglable option to show things not accessible yet is good way of doing it. But not I am not sure if that would hide everything that the player hasn’t yet gotten somehow or that isn’t available yet. I think that unlocking the set when meeting the characters or reaching an area is good.
In any case, I feel that no one should see future event items that haven’t happened yet.
I think letting people use DLC furniture is maybe a good way of teasing it to them and maybe make them buy it.
But I wouldn’t do a catalog to order from like mentioned. Because that would completely remove the purpose of collecting the event currency to trade or win the furniture in a mini game.
We currently have « some » spoilers with the silhouettes in the collections but it’s not as bad as seeing the full items and be able to use them.

i am so excited to find out that so many other people want this feature too, and that it's being seriously considered enough to warrant a thread!!

i think that because so many items are story locked and character locked, it would be a shame to not include them in the catalogue. i like what the sims 4 does, where progression locked items can still be viewed and even used - though i think a little on/off style toggle might be better than the cheat commands in this case. even if the items can't be used until you unlock them, but can be viewed in some capacity, i think it could work.

while i understand the idea that having dlc/expansion items available to view would "spoil the fun" in some way, personally i think it would be an even bigger draw to purchase the dlcs - more like a "look at all of the cute stuff you could unlock!"

event items i'm a little torn on, because while i personally would love to be able to try all of the different swatches of all of the different items with only a few clicks of a button, i also understand the concern it would take away from the events a bit. maybe even having them as viewable only on the catalogue / menu, but greyed out and unplaceable would work alright? i think it would be handy if there was a little tag saying something like "participate in the luck and lanterns (example) event to unlock this item!" too, because there are so many cool things to unlock and not necessarily a lot of info about them without having to consult the wiki. not to say that the wiki isn't a wonderful resource, but in my opinion it's often best when the game can kind of hold its own in that regard.

but all of that is just my opinion and i'm pretty sure i would be thrilled with just about anything like this!

If items and furniture that’s not accessible through normal gameplay yet is accessible in creative mode, people will be able to post about it everywhere and I think a lot of people will be spoilered against their will.

tiny valve

I don't think we'd want to show things that haven't been released yet, no matter what. This is purely for things that are technically available, but might be late game / elder game / in an event that isn't finished yet / etc

Good to know! 🫶

# tawny heath This may count as suggesting a new feature, but for the items we don’t have in i...

I was thinking of suggesting this (just briefly reading through everything now and stuff). Like have catalog of stuff you can get. I think then you would purchase - or not depending how they were going to do it - and then you’d know what is in your inventory for Creative Mode. Slash see everything in one place.

Filters definitely would help. Maybe make DLC stuff a different color or something so people know it’s DLC even if they aren’t in Discord or social media group.

#

The way I was gonna bring it up would def probably be a new feature but having a new character do the creative mode catalog and they could help with tutorials how to do and stuff. <cough>mainly putting to push my agenda of opossum OG named Minty<cough>

I think it would be cool for people to see the DLC items without having it (the only thing would be those that are against multiplayer reward items may get upset they can’t actually keep the items they see.)

I’m not sure if you’re looking for a hate exactly but one could be doing certain theme to unlock other year event? Like decorate cabin using Give & Gather to unlock previous years. Or you have to decorate so many cabin themes or quests (however yall are setting it up) and get customization.

tawny heath

#

I’m not sure if this is more for feedback but hear me out: could we get a pic stitch for cabins especially within a creative mode? I would really want to create cabins that I would be able to put together through pics and yes maybe I could go into ps or another ap but it’s impossible to get the same angles so if there was a pic stitch option for cabins it would open a whole new way of displaying.

tough mountain
#

Also in creative mode would it be possible to stack all items? Some that could and should be stackable like couches don’t have the option. And if there’s anyway to remove gaps

I don't know how you can see the potential in all this furniture and be able to turn it into the things you do.

tough mountain
tough mountain
#

Since we would have access to most furniture sets is there a possibility to have drop down menus for the furniture that’s customizable in the colors that are available for the item. How exactly would the customizable furniture work? Right now the customizable option can get tedious when ur dying multiples of one item.

tough mountain
#

If possible could we also have a “Grid” mode so we can see where items would land?

tough mountain
#

Sorry, it’s me again 😬: a multi select for moving would be amazing. Sometimes when I have stacked an area and I realized I need to move it over (please include a grid mode) it’d be so helpful to multi select furniture pieces when moving

#

Currently I have to unstack piece by piece and find an area in the cabin for it until I get to the piece I need to move. For me the worst is when it’s a base piece I need to move and there’s a bunch on stuff on top especially if it’s adjoining other pieces it can lead to undoing half a cabin

#

If possible another idea is similar to a “favorite/star it”like we have now is a menu/inventory area we can add the pieces we want to use for easy access. For example: I might need to use 10 city lamps I customized when I’m figuring out a layout. Depending on how much space I have available in a cabin I may have to put them away and search for that specific lamp again so it’d be great to have a place I can just throw things I think I’ll be using/are using and need quick access to store and access it again

Maybe you guys could just add a spoiler save mode in the game settings that people can enable/disable
