#Not seeing many channels? Check your Channels & Roles!

In preparation for the Hello Kitty Island Adventure's launch onto new platforms, the Discord server is undergoing a large reorganization process. When new channels or roles are added to the server, you do not automatically get the new roles and are unlikely to automatically get the new channels. This explains how to get them.

About

While everyone will have access to the same content eventually, some content may not be available off Apple Arcade initially, and we want to make avoiding spoilers easier for everyone. We also think that different platforms may have different needs, so channels may be added/adjusted for specific platforms to more precisely suit those needs.

You are able to select roles for multiple platforms. You may also want to adjust what channels you see after you select a role.

New Members

New members of the server should be asked what roles they want as part of the joining process. If you want to change your roles later, you can at any time!

A role that you can add that is not part of the joining process is the multiplayer role. To unlock the Multiplayer role for your platform, you need to use the unlock-multiplayer channel for it. Check [this section of the FAQ](#1328141799562149911 message) for more information.

Returning Members

Old members who originally joined when Apple Arcade was the only platform will retain their Apple Arcade Multiplayer role (if they had one) but will not automatically get the Apple Arcade role that unlocks access to the Apple Arcade hub. Returning members should use the Channels & Roles menu to select the appropriate role(s).

It is also highly recommended that you use that menu to check what channels you are following! For example, if you are not following the entire "Apple Arcade Hub" section, then you will not automatically follow a new channel that gets added to it. (Historically, a new spoiler channel has been made for every major version released.)

How to Check Channels & Roles

Step 1

Select "Channels & Roles" near the top of the server's channel list, under the "Server Guide".

Step 2

Select which roles you want to have.

  • If no roles are showing, Discord has messed up. Try force-closing and restarting your Discord app.

Check which channels you are following, and select those you want to follow or not.

While not in the "Channels & Roles" menu, there are other roles you can get.

You can also check #roles for descriptions of all roles.

Creator Videos - Announcements

This role recieves notifications if a content creator posts to a creator-content channel with a new video. You can select it from #roles in the Server Guide.

Content Creator

People must apply to get the content creator role and be able to post links to their content in the server. Currently, content creators are required to have:

  • 3+ months of consistent, community-abiding content on a social channel
  • 3+ months of active Discord membership
    If you meet those requirements, send a message to @narrow rapids stating you'd like to apply and link to your social channel(s).

Multiplayer

Multiplayer can only be done between games on the same platform, so the multiplayer sections are all separated accordingly.

To get the Multiplayer role(s), you must go to the unlock-multiplayer channel for your desired platform(s) and read and agree to the rules.
