#Memory Usage Issue

Hi, the modpack is using up so much memory that it's lagging my entire pc. The issue causes my audio to crackle as well as my entire pc straight up freezing.

I have a very decent build, with good RAM, GPU and CPU. No other game does this. I play Elden Ring on Ultra graphics and it never even gets close. I've also tweaked my in game settings to make sure I'm optimizing my experience as much as possible without taking away too many graphical/aesthetic features.

I am aware that there are already optimization mods in the mod pack, and I'm also very aware that Minecraft in general is a very poorly optimized game, so that could just be the issue. What could be another way to fix this issue or at least mediate it a little?

PS: I've already allocated a bunch of RAM to the mod pack.

Thank you!

use prism or atlauncher, try a better optimized version of java (Azul Zulu 17), 6 to 8 gb of ram. No need to use more

#

maybe that will help

How will using a different launcher help?

#

People have reported better performance when moving away from CF.

lilac agate
#

How come? How does that work if you're still using the same instance of minecraft?

#

also im not doubting you im just curious

acoustic plaza
#

the launcher still uses resources

lilac agate
#

i could just close it after running the game right?

Not 100% on that. you can test and see. I am just saying what has worked for people. What launcher are you using?

lilac agate
#

CF

#

I use it for all my modpacks and I haven't encountered this issue ever

#

It could be that this modpack is just super hefty

acoustic plaza
#

nah, I know people who have had issues with this modpack but can play something like ATM just fine and that is a bigger modpack.

#

there is something else that is not agreeing with some systems

#

but usually the suggestions I gave you fixed a lot of the issues

Do i just need to install the java version and it'll automatically prefer it or do i need to do that myself?

acoustic plaza
#

You need to select it.

#

And if I remember correctly CF will make you choose it every time you launch the game.

lilac agate
#

what file extension should i be selecting?\

acoustic plaza
#

For the Java installer?

#

I just use the msi

#

Also I recommend Java 17

#

I have seen people with issues running higher versions
