Currently working on a project to redesign the Pause AI Pin into a higher-quality, CNC-milled, metal-acrylic style pin. After working a decade as a bartender, I can personally attest to how many conversations have evolved after a guest or coworker asked "hey man, what's that pin for?" By providing activists a way to express their opinions as well as start up conversations, I see this project having some great merit in terms of marketing and expanding discussions. A pin can be worn by a man in a suit or attached to a backpack in scenarios much more likely to be a part of "every day outreach" versus other brands of merchandise, such as T-shirts, hats, etc which require the individual to specifically wear that item of clothing to express a message. With a sleeker, professional and polished looking enameled pin, we might see politicians start affixing them to their outfits when giving speeches on topics like AI safety and regulation, further expanding the outreach of our group. Whereas the current design seems like a fun sort of pin you could affix to a jean jacket for a "punk" mission statement, a more-refined and official design could look especially impressive when worn on suits and ties lobbying for regulation in this field.

I've currently modeled base designs to scale in Shapr 3D and want to reach out for opinions on what type of design people think would be most effective here. I'm all for "no text" approach that works universally across all languages, with just a simple "pause" logo and also have the intention to laser-etch or use stickers to put a QR code linking to our website's homepage on the back of the pin. Essentially, these could be given out at protests (costs folded into marketing budget) or sold for $1 (to recoup manufacturing costs somewhat) and everyone who ends up with a pin would become linked to our website online then, should they feel inclined to become involved further.

Let's plan this out. I already have a manufacturer in mind.

Take a look at costs for different style pins here to get an initial cost idea. Costs scale inversely with order size, so I recommend we all do a bit of design work, pick one we prefer, then order something like 1,000 of them and ship 100 to 10 specific regions each as a pilot project. I'm willing to do as much work as necessary to get this project completed, so just reach out to me with anything at all here. Cheers,
