It’s so hard for me to believe the board entertained the idea of bringing him back right after firing him. I have no private information but my instinct is that the meeting was mostly because of employees threatening to quit and not because the board was seriously considering it.

it's likely that past the public 'this is fine' messages from Microsoft and other investors there was quite a bit of WTF going on at what went down. tbh if I was Microsoft and this stuff went down without me at least getting a memo, I'd be a wee bit irked
but no, I think it's most likely that outsiders and insiders sympathetic to Altman are attempting to extort the board into allowing him back
