So yesterday I looted the note off of Cinder and it started the quest “Whispers of Wyland” from the tutorial island saying I had discovered a note and needed to tell the password to the guys on the island. I know the quest did not come from elsewhere because this character was started on the mainland and skipped the tutorial. At first I thought it was because maybe those two cult dudes from the newbie island had “travelled” to the mainland and were being reused for a later quest which was a neat concept but eventually I realized it was probably a bug.
Separately, I deleted the note for bag space not realizing it was important for a turn-in (because the quest just said I needed a password to speak) and then when I realized I needed to keep it Cinder would not drop another one for me despite multiple kills, although I seemed to fix this by relogging (my theory is the game still thought I had it in my inventory even if it was in the trash slot?)
