It would be cool to have more abilities in the game especially abilities that are geared towards utilities and role playing. Mostly spells. I also suggest reskins of existing abilities allowing people to look and feel cooler in the world.

Some new spells could be:

  • Summon Friend -> allows you to send a request to a player you are friends with and if they accept they teleport to you.

  • Conjure Food -> works exactly like wow's in wotlk

  • Streamwalking -> Walk on non-ocean water

  • Levitate -> Lift slightly above the ground gaining immunity to traps and slows

  • Nightmare/Dream -> Enemies sleeping lose hp and wake up stunned while allies restore hp while they sleep

Some reskin ideas:

  • Fireball: Reskin icebolt

  • Summon Skeleton: Reskin of Summon Brute

  • Summon Steed: Summons Spirit horse

  • Acidbolt -> Lesser Poison Reskin

  • Bone Lance -> Ice Lance Reskin

And many others

Summon friend and levitate would be awesome abilities to have. Especially summon for getting the group up and going. Would always have levitate on, back in my EQ days.

Summon food would be cool, if it provided a different or better buff that what the store bought food does. As right now i feel like its already super easy to get food and never really run out.

Levitate and water walking are cool, though I feel like they wouldn't really have any use in-game? Maybe if there's some mechanics that get tied into using them, e.g bypassing lava/acid/etc floor effects that do damage (only one I've seen so far is volcano fire giant area in rockshade).

I'd normally throw in water breathing with those, but as we don't have a breath meter (or from what I've seen basically nothing hidden in the water), that'd also need to be expanded on to be useful. More areas like the Bellwain underwater hidden caves would be fun additions.

Detect secrets/find hidden style spells could be nice for finding hidden walls/doors...though again would like the 'hidden things' expanded. I do wish there was just more stuff hidden around the maps, for me the zones do feel very empty and a lot of exploration is pointless (idk if that's just how everquest was and/or it's just a solo dev = hard to flesh out so many zones kind of issue). Would love to have more hidden treasure chests/items/things to find around around the maps.

Summon friend seems, eh. I guess if we could invite players to the party (without them being in the same zone) and then summon them to us, that would be good for 'roleplay'. Personally I'd take that as just an inbuilt game mechanic though (as per the party mod).

Summon food/water would be more roleplay flavor without use atm - think you'd have to make it a lot harder/more expensive to get bread/water for it to have value...and that still wouldn't work considering the unlimited food/water buff bracers that were added/can be farmed super early. Maybe something more like 'summon feast' that could give the entire party a stronger version of the hydrated/nourished buff that lasts for an hour?

I think you miss the point, sometimes useless skills give a lot of flare in rpgs and breaking down everything to "can it be used in combat" is a very boring way of thinking about magic in fantasy. Also reskining stuff is a nice way to add variety to the game so every character we make doesn't feel the same.
I'd say underpowered non-combat abilities are very cool and should return to mmos again as soon as possible.

Kinda yes, kinda no.

I am absolutely here for cosmetic 'stuff that makes you look cool but serves no purpose'...that's why I'm such a massive fan of transmog (which it sadly seems has been no no'd for being too 'modern' mmo). IDK where opinion lies on other cosmetics (pets, mounts, spell reskins, player housing, etc).

To pick on specifically, say levitation: If we had a cosmetic that makes your character float and/or gives your char wings, I'm all for that...but not so much a levitate spell that has zero in-game mechanics or purpose. Never said any of them needed a use in combat, but if they're mobility/exploration type spells I feel they should have a use in world exploration. I honestly I think there's already too much 'useless spell clutter' in the spell book as it is, as spells don't replace each other at rank upgrade (but that's another discussion entirely) - this is probably what makes me have an inherent dislike of the idea of putting more 'useless' roleplay spells in there though.

I think If it was added as something more akin to the wow 'toys tab', where it's just clickables that do neat things but have zero in game use, then I'd be good with it - I would just personally prefer useless/cosmetic is segregated away from useful spells/skills. If we get something like a cosmetic only 'stone of levivation' that just makes your character float visually, and serves no other purpose, that's a neat addition. Or maybe even a /levitate emote. I think at the core we agree on it being cool to have flavour cosmetics(spells), just differ on how we think they should be baked into the game.

Spell cosmetics would also be neat. I don't really have anything against that, but if theres a no reskinning equipment stance, I'd be surprised if we get the option to reskin spells. I'm all for this one though - I hate brute, and think it's sad the final companion is the most ugly one.
