Trying to get some of the above dust for an npc in Faerie Brake. Been killing the drones but had no dust drop so far. Is it just a very low drop rate or am I fighting the wrong faeries?

It's a pretty low drop rate but it does drop from the Fairy Drones.
You can also check the Auction House, Sim Players sell it pretty regularly. You'll need a couple of them for various quests / molds.
