OpenRouter::ServerError: API key credit limit reached.

@fading star

I just had a few hours of downtime because of this while sleeping. Would have been nice to have some sort of prominent reminder or warning about it

#

I set the limit on the key when I created it some weeks ago and didn't remember a limit even existed

Under send me email

#

You can also do auto-topup as well

oblique locust
#

that's not what I'm talking about though

#

@fading star I'm talking about the limit on the key

#

i set it when I setup the key and promptly forgot that limit existed

#

until the limit hit without warning

#

I had plenty of money in my credits

Ooh

#

cc @still wolf might be a nice to have feature

#

But not sure if we would prioritize it. The idea with key with limit is that you create it and give it to other ppl

#

But for your own API usage, you'd generally make uncapped key :-?... (and be notified on low balance)

Will queue the idea (email notification if your key is running low)

Thanks. This won't burn me personally again, just was a really nasty surprise to wake up to this morning

Curious - was the limit a mistake or did you expect us to handle it differently? (beside having notification/alert)

still wolf

I think he said he wants a warning or an alert in advance of hitting the limit

fwiw when I started using OR and put it into production I was using cents a day so I stuck a 100 dollar limit on there just as a precaution

I'm running into this now. I started getting API key credit limit reached errors but I still had $50 left in my account after checking the dashboard. I also have auto-top-up enabled already.

So I added $100 more thinking that it must be a caching issue and now shows $148 in credits but am still receiving the 401 errors.

sounds like your key has a limit on it that you set

covert anvil
#

ahhh interesting. you're right. was this the default to have a $100 limit?

still wolf
#

nope, the default is unlimited

#

you can edit the limits directly on that page

perfect; working on

#

this was pretty confusing
