#Mozilla Sync erasing tabs

I'm running version 1.19.1b, and I recently logged into Mozilla to sync my tabs. They all vanished instead. I tried the session restore instructions I've seen listed, and that restored my pinned items, but not my open tabs. Any idea how to get those back?

As I was browsing after restoring my pinned items, they all just vanished again, right before my eyes. So I've turned off sync, and nothing seems to be disappearing anymore, but it would be nice to get the rest of my tabs back, and to know if I can safely sync again.

I've managed to restore the open tabs by browsing my old zen session with: https://www.jeffersonscher.com/ffu/scrounger.html

Although it was a lengthier process than I would have liked. Given that all the tabs were in the same session history that restored the pinned items, it would be nice if the open tabs were restored as well.

I also still wanted to know if it was safe to turn on Mozilla Sync, and what might have caused the issue. Thanks!

After I restored the missing tabs, I felt a bit safer poking around again. It seems that turning on sync changed a lot of my settings, including re-opening tabs. That doesn't explain the tabs vanishing in front of me, but it explains how they might have vanished the first time. Obvious in retrospect, but I hadn't used Firefox in years, so I wasn't my expecting old Firefox settings to override new ones. There also wasn't an option to restore my last session when they disappeared, which I would have expected.

That mostly resolves the issue on my end.. although it leaves me leery of turning on sync again.

mixed use of Firefox and Zen is one of the reasons I've disabled settings from syncing (another is that I like different settings on my laptop than on my desktop)
