From what I can read in the changelog, it looks like the lanterns should turn themselves off during the day. However, it appears they do not right now, and it looks quite odd to have the lit AoE existing during the day.

I had a problem with Standing Torch. Haven't built any since the last update, because I also started over.
But if I built Standing Torch during nighttime, it would not lit until next night.

so if u built at night they not working later?
I am host, and I built the single lanterns at night originally. But they still did the same if built during the day.
