So I followed hunters around and here is what I see:
They have bad accuracy. In fights the enemy seems to never miss, but these hunters are bad shots. Mine are all at least 5+ in str, agil, archer, and animal skills.
They take forever to switch to mele. When the animal gets to mele range, they do swap weapons, which is good, but it takes them a while and they eat a lot of damage doing so.
Armor doesn't seem to do much against animals. I tested this over a year ago and armor seemed to have 0 effect against animals (it does against weapons though). I tested today and hunter seemed to take similar damage naked vs T3 armor. No way a wolf can hunt a man in chain mail with a sword, come on.
They don't eat well. They walk out for miles and are on 1 food or less most of the time. It would be nice if they are forced to refresh food everytime they come back to hunter's place. And it would be nice if they are forced up to 3 food instead of 2 when they eat since they need to heal from battle and they are SO far from your storage if they get hungry while working. They need the HP too.
Priorities are messed up. I had Boars on 1 and Wolves on 2 because I needed Fur. They killed 1 boar and skinned it, then, and not because they seeked to, just because the wolf engaged them, they killed 2 wolves but left the bodies on the ground without skinning. That is so inefficient. They need to prefer boar in the scenerio, but not ignore everything else also.
Finally, the worst part. It's so bad. They kill ONE animal, skin it, ignore the other similar animals near by, walk ALL the way back to the hunter camp to dump the 5 items they have (with like 20 empty slots), then walk ALL the way back to kill the next animal that was 5 feet away. 2 miles of walking to kill an animal 5 feet away. They need to hunt until the bag is full before returning.
