Crash when hunting on old save

I have an olderish (and by older I mean right before the Beta release) save that I had progressed to Tier 3 in anticipation of the new update.
Any time I hunt or seem to get close to enemies, the game will crash to desktop. Whether I am hunting a boar or trying to save my villagers from wolves, it will crash before I can get close or land a hit.
